Did you mean:

Don't use the correct return reason

When you order a Large item but the seller sends a Small item, don't select the obvious "item is the wrong size" when returning it.  That's considered buyers remorse and you need to pay for return shipping.

You need to scroll down the list and select "item not as described".

Can you fix this?  No.  Can ebay fix this?  No.  Screw you, you're paying for return shipping.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, SELECT THE CORRECT REASON FOR RETURNING YOUR ITEM.

Well it seems like you didn't.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

eBay considers wrong size choice to mean you purchased the wrong size not that you were sent the wrong size.  Does not fit would be better for that imo.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

I did.

"Item is the wrong size"

But in bizarre ebay land, that makes it my problem.

And if you make a wrong choice for any reason, there's no way for anyone to fix it.

Brilliant.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

Why would it be fair for a buyer's mistake to cost the seller?

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

Seller's mistake was to send the wrong size.  Seller should pay.

Ordered Large, received Small.

"item is the wrong size"

Yes you can fix this, maybe !!!

If you paid by PP, as you chose the incorrect reason, you can close the eBay return, and open a not as described on PP.

On PP you are responsible for return shipping.

Before you open the return on PP sign up for the  PP program where PP will reimburse you for return shipping of an item.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

Oh, in that case, yes, the seller is at fault.

The buyer should open an "item not as described" case with an explanation and photos. Once eBay reviews it, they will allow the buyer to return the item for a refund. Usually return shipping is paid by the buyer (or eBay in rare instances).

But as others explained, it seems you unknowingly selected the "item is the wrong size" reason, which allows the seller to choose to accept the return request or not. If they deny it, eBay will not force them to refund. If they accept, the buyer pays for return shipping.

I am sorry that this happened. Did you contact the seller and explain what happened? If sending the incorrect size was a genuine mistake and they are an honest seller, perhaps they will offer to pay for the return shipping, since it was their error that is causing the return.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

I did contact the seller.  They are a Chinese drop shipper with dozens of accounts.  We'll see.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

If you bought a large item, and they sent a small, then do an item not as described... wrong size makes it sound like you didn't buy the right size you needed.  But if you bought a certain size and was shipped a different one, it's item not as described.

Yeah.  Opened a claim with paypal.

It's pathetic that ebay is unwilling to help.  Such poor customer service.

Re: Don't use the correct return reason

Here are the reasons the seller pays return postage for Not As Described.
1: Doesn't work or defective
2: Doesn't match description or photos
3: Wrong item sent
4: Missing parts or pieces
5: Arrived damaged
6: Doesn't seem authentic

Here are the reasons the buyer pays return postage for Buyer Remorse.
A) Doesn't fit
B) Changed my mind
C) Found a better price
D) Just didn't like it
E)Ordered by mistake

There should be a clickable explanation for each reason to help guide buyers through their decision making. Perhaps a short window of time for the buyer to revise the return. There is a precedent that the buyer gets an hour to request a Cancelation.

Here is an example of a buyer selecting Wrong Item Sent.

Buyer comment: I received 8 amp, but needed 3 amp fuses.

Seller reply:
You ordered 8A fuses.
Then 8A fuses arrived.
You needed 3A fuses.
I challenge you to tell this story to a number of people or else post it on social media.
Ask them if this a case of Wrong Item Sent or else Ordered By Mistake.
I predict the near unanimous opinion will be Ordered By Mistake.
It is disturbing that you can not tell the difference.
