Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

I had a buyer request local pickup as she lives in my area. Fine by me, but I had never done it before. After the auction we arranged the pickup via eBay messages. She selected local pickup and paid via PayPal. I didn’t realize I needed the code till I tried to mark it delivered. She hasn’t responded to my message about the code but she did leave positive feedback. What do I do now? My item still says I need to arrange pickup. Thanks!

a code for what?  And you should have had the buyer pay cash on pick up.  That way they cannot say it wasn't delivered.

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

Apparently eBay wants a code that was emailed to the buyer which then confirms delivery when I enter it. As to the cash, that would have been fine too but again—I’ve never done local pickup before. It was a very inexpensive item. But I don’t want eBay to think I didn’t deliver.

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

My understanding is this:  eBay issues a "code" to buyers who are picking up a local pickup item.

That code is then entered when the buyer picks it up.

If your item was not listed as local pickup, then eBay would have no reason to issue a QR code.

Just mark it as shipped.  You will probably still have to wait the 21 days, however, for payment because you do not have tracking proving delivery.

Thanks but after the buyer asked about local pickup I modified the listing to allow that as an option. She selected that so now I can’t mark it delivered without the code. 😞

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

lets not forget that the ebay MBG applies to this,if the buyer is not happy with the item a week later, the seller will be stuck paying for the return, that is why you want cash

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

A couple of people here need to keep up with the policies. Only certain categories (like vehicles) can ask cash. All others that have local pickup must offer an electronic method. YES, they can ask for cash but they can't  discourage a buyer from paying on eBay.

Here's the info about the QR Code or the 6 digit code they were emailed when they made the payment. The code is the seller's proof of delivery.

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

Thanks but having never done local pickup before I didn’t know about the code until I tried to mark the item delivered after meeting with her and delivering it. She has not responded to my message asking for it. Maybe she hasn’t been on eBay again since the pickup. So now what do I do?

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

Don't  do anything. You're allowed to ship without tracking.  It's not a high theft item that attracts scammers.  I seriously doubt she'll file a dispute. Mark it's been shipped. Because there's  no tracking or QR Code/6 digit pin the funds will be on hold 21 days.

Re: Don’t have code to enter for local pickup

Thanks I don’t think she’ll file a dispute. But I literally cannot mark it shipped. My only options are to enter the code or arrange pickup (which has already happened). I guess I just have to leave it.
