I sold a jewelry pin for $6.95 and $1.00 shipping. (Yes, $1.00 did not cover the ship charge.)
The buyer has the pin for 3 weeks and decides to return it. Reason: didn't fit, pin was not wide enough.
I have a 60 day return policy but buyer pays return postage.
To send this pin back to me cost the buyer around $3.00 and the refund issued was $6.95 (buyer does not get back the $1.00 ship charge.)
What I do not understand is why anyone would send back a pin that cost them $7.95 and get a net refund of about 3.95. ($7.95-$1 to ship to them-$3 to ship back.)
Yes, the buyer could have said SNAD and got the return postage and $7.95, so at least that did not happen. And the pin came back in good shape. But it is hard for me to understand why the buyer bothered unless they just expected me to just issue a refund without a return.
Any thoughts?

I was just wondering the same thing I just had a buyer return an item that was $26.99 + about $4 shipping through USPS. They ended up shipping it back to me through UPS. I look it up and it cost them about $11. That's a $15 loss. The didn't even upload a tracking # to the case. If it were me I would have just keep it or try to resell. But I guess that's why my house is full of stuff I don't use with boxes of things I plan to put up on ebay one day. lol

Bottom line of the Op has a return policy, every thing else is moot.
It certainly would be except that isn't what the thread is about at all.
Sheesh.
Wow, so when you're a buyer on any site would you like to be called fickle and dumb?
When I do fickle and dumb stuff as a consumer I expect to be called out for it and I return in kind.

To answer your question: My thoughts are there must to be people who simply react to situations because on the immediate surface, it seems like a good idea, without taking time to think it through. My experience with people has led me to think that is surely the case. I also think some people actually have no ability to be able to do that and go through life scratching their head and wondering ... "What just happened?" or "Wait a minute, what?" My own experiences have led me to believe that too. I don't think they are necessarily wrong and I am right or that I am wrong and they are right. It's just the way it is.
Today I will not judge.
