Do NOT use Shippo

If you are going to need to insure anything, do NOT use shippo.

I sent a buyer an item. He says it is damaged and wants to return it. No problem I say, I'll file a claim. I have pics and videos it was in mint and working condition when sent.

I start the claim and they say the buyer needs to take it to TWO repair shops and get an estimate on the repair and then submit that and they will start the claim. They also state the buyer needs to hold on to the product until they get to the point they need to pick it up. So he cant ship it back to me... let me deal with the claim and I could refund him through Ebay.

This was through UPS through Shippo. A  $1700 item. Insured 100% and signed fo by buyer and damaged in shipping.

During covid, do you really think this buyer is going to find a repair shop? This is an obscure Chinese brand laser projector that not many techs would know what to do with it, let alone get a price on parts for a repair.

The insurance company says there is no other way to do it and wont budge.

So basically, the buyer has to use his own resources, go find two repair shops for an item that is impossible to fix.. Meanwhile his time is ticking away on Ebay.

During covid, repair shops on electronics are backed up weeks if not months. I know from experience. So even if they do find two shops and get quotes, by then it would be too late to file anything with Ebay so there is no way the buyer is going to do that.

You cant pick UPS insurance, you have to use the 3rd party insurance Shippo uses and when you purchase  it doesnt even mention that. And I called Shippo and they said its not their problem, to deal with the insurance company.

So.. Stay away from Shippo and Happy Holidays!
