Hi everyone,
I bought a $25 figure brand new. The base of the figure ended up being cracked and damaged— I’m chalking it up to the damage occurring during transit due to the somewhat flimsy packaging. The base was only placed in a plastic baggy within the small box with no other protection (unlike the figure itself, which was wrapped in bubble wrap and, therefore, did not get damaged).
I contacted the seller (and my post office with little resolve in the end)— they gave me two options: I could either have a replacement base of another figure’s that was not the same base that went with the one I purchased (and did not match) or I could have a $2 partial refund.
Would it be unreasonable to ask for atleast a $5 partial refund? I don’t mean to be rude or demanding with them, but as a seller (off of eBay) I’ve had to give a $40 partial refund for a figure that was $140 due to even less damage. I don’t feel like $2 is even worth getting back. I’m not sure how to go about this, as I’ve never done this before?

Simply go to the Resolutions Center (link at the bottom of this page) and open an Item Not As Described case and you will get a full refund ( item & shipping). You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee - https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy.
It is the sellers full resposibility to have the item deliverd as described in their listing - no matter what they may state in their listing.

One more thing when you open an Item Not aAs Described case the seller pays for the cost of the return shipping. Since you are in Canada you seller may not be able to issue you a return lable IF they are in another country but you can find out the cost of the return shipping at your end and advise the seller of the amount and request they send a payment to your PayPal account to cover the cost. Don't return on your dime.

Let the seller know, thru ebay messages, what you would accept as a partial refund and that $2 is not acceptable. Otherwise advise them you'd like to return for a full refund plus shipping both ways.

Where is the seller located? If they are in the US and this was a global shipping program sale then the seller is not responsible for the damage or for paying for return shipping.

The seller is located in China and I don’t recall receiving any notification that it was sold by the global shipping program, as I have before in the past.
Ok, there is no GSP in China 🙂
Most likely the seller won’t pay for return shipping & you won’t have to return the item to get a refund.
