I'm very confused right now.
I just received two pairs of women's shoes addressed to my eBay return address (I don't have any other items delivered there besides returns). The first problem: I don't sell shoes. The second problem: whoever sent me the shoes conveniently didn't include their name on the return label or any return packing slip, and I don't recognize the address (a large multi-use building with no unit number in a big city) from any previous orders.
The item was sent to me using FedEx, which I never use (meaning they didn't use a return label that I sent them). I called FedEx to see if they could provide any info, but FedEx didn't see any additional information that could ID whoever sent the item to me.
I want to solve this riddle. My thoughts:
(1) A buyer meant to return the shoes to a different seller (the most likely scenario, but weird since I don't recognize their address)
or
(2) A buyer is engaged in return fraud without an open return (my fear, but don't know how they could win a case without an open return)
or
(3) A buyer sent me the shoes as an anonymous gesture (how sweet)
If it is scenario (1), I just want to make sure the shoes get to the right person so they can get their proper refund. If it is scenario (2), I want to make sure I can get my side of the story in before a case gets opened. And (3) is cute, but I have no use for the shoes.
Anyone ever been in a similar situation before? It is just bizarre.

They are a gift.

Return fraud? They're a gift, at this point.

Of course they do, but why?

A possible scenario for this situations is that the person ordered something from you and another seller and then returned it to the wrong person from there office/work address. Many people do this because they have a daily pickup from certain shipping companies, (in this case FEDEX). This would account for you not recognizing the address because you shipped to there home. Try cross-refrencing zip code or major city in your shipments with the return lable.
