Hi,
due a short search in eBay catalogs, I noticed that I can easily find what I am looking for, at low enough prices, but... when it went for shipping, I could not believe my eyes! Who decides the shipping cost and why so much difference, between the price of the selected item to buy, and the price for shipping?
However, I don't think that this is fair for anyone.

However, it would be nice if they were on-topic, understandable, and not just a copy/paste of the response directly above them, which seems to be the latest trend.

Please remember that English is just a second language for Sri Lankans and used primarily for commercial purposes. Tamil is the most spoken language of Sri Lanka. They just want to participate, but it's difficult when English is not your native language, and they also use Sinhala script to write. I think it's really commendable to try. Frankly this is a great place for them to practice their English skills.

I also was charged an extreme amount for shipping, and when i called FedEx, they said that although the package weighs only 5 pounds, the dimensions 22 x 17 x 18 bump it into "Dimensional Shipping" as tho it was 50 pounds! So i can't ship a barbie car or truck any more and will have to put Local pick-up only, Post it on Facebook Marketplace, or risk cramming the item into a close-fitting carton without any surrounding cushioning so it doesn't cross over to the over-sized calculation.

I see a lot of $1 sales with $100 shipping. I buy and sell and ship a lot of the same items. It doesn't cost $100 to ship from any company for the items I am speaking about "sports cards". Basically they are hoping a suckered does a search and sees the low price "auction or bin" and jumps at it. What eBay needs to do is not have two separate prices because like all these people say "2+2=4" however if one of those 2's are in small print and easily misread, then that seller basically just scammed somebody. They won't tell you the truth but that's what they are shooting for. Obviously not in the examples here where it's a $15 purchase but if you buy 1 item for $1 in a list of the same item for $2 you think you get a good deal and pull the trigger and then see a $14 shipping charge it, it creates distrust for eBay and the sellers which creates less sales.
It's on the buyer to do their research and figure the total price out however it wouldn't take much at all for ebay to create a one price listing where they include shipping and sale price as a total. They dont because they hope people fall for the same thing because they make money off of it as well.

What's your problem, if you pay for an item $10 and $90 for shipping, or $90 for the item and $10 for shipping. Your cost is the same, why should you be frustrated? Ebay sellers are doing that because of Ebay high commissions 15%, hence shipping amount aren't commissioned, ebayers are trying to catch a break from Ebays' outrageous commissions.

Sorry to have to inform you of this: eBay's final value fee (commission) is charged on the TOTAL paid the seller by the buyer and is calculated on the item price plus the shipping fee plus the state sales tax, if any.
Therefore, if I sell you a widget for $90 with $10 shipping or a widget for $10 with $90 shipping, my final value fee will be exactly the same . Please do not disseminate incorrect information.
And, FYI, eBay's final value fee in most categories and without enhancements is 12.9% currently.
