Hello, ebay community.
So, i bought a russian watch, from Russia, from a chap with 95% positive feedback.
That was way back, in september, the 25-th.
I've bought things from Russia, before, they usually arrive in 1-3 weeks. In mid october, i requested
a tracking number - i was provided one. Item was shipped with Russian Post - the tracking number
checks on their site - shows that the parcel was dispatched to Romania.
The Romanian Post, on the other hand, shows that the tracking number is invalid. Usually, that's
because the post here is... something to avoid. I can consider the item lost by this time and want to demand
a refund. However, i have no way to open a case because ebay says the item was bought on another site (what other site?!) and that the item is on its way (where is it?).
Is there any chance i can get my money back, somehow?

Perhaps you purchased it on the eBay Russia site?
Please log into this site and see if your refund can be processed through there.

Tried it.
As soon i click on "My Ebay", it redirects me to www.ebay.com from ru.ebay.com - and the message is the same, i cannot open a case.

Maybe try to open an item not received case at Paypal. You are probably past Ebays thirty day time limit on filing a case.If that doesnt work, and you paid by credit card, try for a chargeback.

Did you actually log in to the RU site? It's not enough to be logged in on the US site and then switch to the RU site, you have to be logged into the RU site.

Hi @city*satins,
to the best of my knowlede, the "eBay Russia" website is not a separate website (like ebay Canada, or eBay UK). It just provides a gisted-translation of eBay.com, for members who are located in a Russian-speaking region, based on their IP address apparently.
When I navigate to ru.ebay.com, it automatically shows me as being logged in if I am logged in to eBay.com. It doesn't require me to log in again (as the other eBay websites do). I see the website in English (since my IP address is in the USA), which shows that it is the same website. And any link that I click on takes me to the relevent page on eBay.com.

Thanks for that info! I had no idea that it worked that way.
Now, I'm wondering what site the listing was launched from, then. Is there way to see this? Or does it matter?

@city*satins, the only way to tell what site a listing was posted on is from the currency that it is sold in. US$ = eBay USA, £ = eBay UK, and so on. There a difficulty if the currency is €, which could be any of the websites in Europe except for eBay UK. So we would have to know the item number to figure out where it was listed.
It might matter. There have been several threads recently about this issue. Emails saying that the buyer can't open a case because the item was purchased on another eBay website, but with the "other website" left blank like this.
In one case, the listing was in €, 99.9% sure it was eBay Spain because the item location was in Spain and it was only available to ship to Spain. This listing would not be shown on eBay USA unless the buyer was using a shipping address in Spain at the time they searched. The buyer had shipping addressses in both USA and Spain, presumably they used their address in Spain as the shipping address. But they thought they had bought on eBay USA because they believed that their account only worked on eBay USA, and didn't know it would also work on all other eBay websites. So ... best guess in that case was the purchase was made on eBay Spain, but the OP never came back after all that had been worked out.

Made the mistake of paying by card, directly.
I took the decision of not using paypal anymore after being scammed for a couple hundred dollars. Same method - paypal would not allow me to open a case for various reasons: more than 45 days passed, item had a tracking number (a fake one, nevertheless, but paypal did not allow me to open a case as the item was "on its way").
OK, done. This was my last ebay transaction. **bleep** ebay, **bleep** paypal.

PP has buyer protection for 180 days, not 45..and unless your seller was in the managed payments, all cc's go thru PP.
