US Postal Service still not accepting mail for shipment to Canada.
Shipping a $5.75 lot other than by USPS is cost prohibitive. Cost is more than the lot sold for.
Have been in touch with buyer, no problem as he understands the results of the strike.
Ebay shows this item as shipment is overdue. Have called Ebay twice to have them deal with delays to Canada, they advise no problem. Appears that I will be getting a late strike for this lot from Ebay.

I would quit selling to Canada until USPS starts shipping there again.

I sold several items to buyers in Canada and one just told me they confirmed with their postal service that it is OK to ship there, however just today I went to my post office and they told me they are still not accepting shipments to Canada. Does anyone know when their going to accept shipments there?

@albanystamp USPS is still not shipping to Canada. I am sure it's because of the backlog of packages. The only way to ship there right now is with the eBay International Shipping Program.
UPS and Fed Ex are not an option as the buyer will be charged brokerage fees.
I would tell the buyer I am sorry but you can't ship to Canada at this time and cancel the sale as problem with buyers address. Then if you wish tell the buyer that you will put the item aside and save it for them to purchase after shipping to Canada resumes.

I would block shipping to Canada until USPS starts allowing shipping again unless you are eligible for the EIS shipping program.

Please see the attached link:
Notice that it says that even though the strike is over the Canadian postal system is not accepting packages from USPS or Asendia (both of which depend on the Canadian postal system for the last mile) due to a massive backlog that needs to be cleared first..
HOWEVER they point out that is perfectly fine to use UPS as UPS is door to door delivery. Pirateship does not handle FedEx but presumably they would also be a choice.

I agree that it will be best to not allow sales to Canada until the USPS starts accepting mail for Canada again.
For sales that have already occurred, eBay is informing buyers about the delay, and is extended the estimated delivery dates for packages that are affected.

More info from eBay, about the seller protections eBay has provided:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/Canada-Post-Strike-Update/ba-p/34781531
and from the USPS; they hope to start accepting mail again next week, according to their latest update from Dec. 23, 2024:
Canada Post started accepting international mail as of Dec. 23, 2024, but USPS has a backlog of mail they received from Nov 15 until Nov 27, 2024, when they stopped accepting Canada-bound mail.

I am figuring out what to do because I purchased an item to be shipped to Canada but eBay will not let the seller print the shipping label. USPS starts accepting packages tomorrow Jan 6. Hopefully, this temporary glitch in the system ends and the label can be printed. It’s weird tho because seller wasn’t able to print a label for UPS either. They will call eBay tomorrow to figure this out hopefully.

Reach out to your seller and see if they are able to ship tomorrow. UPS and FedEx are much more expensive and probably got overwhelmed with package volume over the holidays, they also charge the buyer brokerage fees.
You can contact the seller and ask if they will cancel the sale if you'd like a refund now. Or you have to wait until it's at least 1 day past the last imaged delivery date to file a refund request for item not received.

USPS posted this announcement on their site on 1/3 /2025:
Effective January 6, 2025, the U.S. Postal Service will resume acceptance of mail and packages to Canada. Canada Post has made significant progress in clearing delayed volumes caused by their employee strike, and now commercial and retail customers, as well as those using online systems, will be able to send mail and packages to Canada once again.

I understand that, it is still up to the seller to print the shipping label. If they can't get it from ebay they should try pirateship.com.
I just explained the refund options in case the seller fails to ship.

Yes, we have been communicating and cannot do anything until tomorrow anyway. UPS was around $6 more, which was fine, but again eBay wouldn’t let her print a label. eBay will help advise tomorrow when she calls them with updated information. I am determined to find a solution and the seller is too. She’s been wonderful.

She doesn't need to call eBay. She just needs to see if eBay is allowing Canada labels to be printed. If not then she should use pirateship.com to buy the label. Pirate ship charges the same discounted rates as eBay and integrates with eBay..
Calling customer service in another country about a US / Canada postal issue won't get the seller very far.
