Boy, I can't wait to stand in the 2 hour lines at USPS! Who thought this was a better idea thandrop and run!!!???

I think this is meant for some sellers who would like or need an extra option. If something works better for you, then use that. I print labels and don't need this option, so I won't use it.
... Don't take messages so personally?

Sometimes mail drop off stores are faster and easier for these.

I guess I am lucky with my post offices in San Francisco where the lines are less than 5 minutes or no line waiting at all. There's also UPS and FedEx and they usually never have a line before the holidays.

No one said it was better; it is simply another option that is available.
And not every post office has a two-hour line; I take every package to the counter because there is rarely anyone else in the lobby at my post office.

I suspect eBay would like nothing better than to provide sellers with no address information at all, just the QR code, all in the name of dissociating sellers from buyers, to prevent any possible off-eBay sales. In eBay's wildest dreams sellers would simply paste the QR code onto the package and drop it at the post office, never knowing who the recipient is or where they live.

Some people still go to post offices to ship their packages. Not many, but they do exist. Maybe they don`t know how to use printer or don`t have one. Other platforms had that option before ebay offered it.

If you have 1 or 2 parcels only, might make sense. At any "volume" level, you are correct it does not.
Someone somewhere is thrilled with the option, so YAY for them. For us, not really viable, but if they could make the SCAN sheet 1 little QR code, that would be nifty (or a barcode emailed to your phone, etc) vs the sheet itself.

If you are one of the lucky ones that have no lines good for you, and I am well aware this is another method. Drop and run has made life so easy here in Memphis, and USPS even has a shoot that most packages to fit down, and a huge cart for larger items. Waiting in line here is tedious and very time consuming.
Therefor, not a viable option. eBay favors the use of USPS, and monies come directly out of managed payments. However, UPS and Fedex have to be billed through another source at least that is what eBay has me do.

Wont work for me as my packages are often dropped off at the post office in the middle of the night using their drop boxes, its not like there's anyone there to print my labels.
I also see no logic standing in line for an hour to print a couple of labels, a total waste of time. Time is money, and you aren't saving money if you're wasting all your time.
I like the fact I never had to wait in line to drop off my packages, even during the day I just toss them on the counter and I'm out the door.

QR codes have been around for a few years now and a lot of sellers think they're not only useful, but cost-saving (printer, ink, etc).
If they don't make sense for your business then don't use them. eBay did not remove the ability for a printable label so I don't see the option of using QR codes as a negative.
I'm not trying to brush off your OP at all, just perplexed as to why you're upset that there's an option for sellers that need it - one that does not affect you or your business. 🤔

To make myself clear; I have been here for 20+ years, and when eBay makes changes or subjective methods it will usually become law NOT an option. eBay is here to make money off us not to make our lives easier sooner or later eBay will dominate the manner in which we use shipping labels through them and make a percentage off of that.
Remember, history repeats itself so has eBay!

I read their description and it says many places have a self serve printing kiosk so you don't have to wait in line. It explains it on the first page!

So you are suggesting that ebay is going to force sellers, some of which have dozens, hundreds and even thousands of transactions per day to take those packages to the post office and print the labels there?
That would break many businesses and the entire USPS retail system. I don't know how many labels the average retail postal clerk prints per day, but judging from how fast the line moves it would take one of them at least 2 hours just to do my 50, and there must be 100 accounts my size at my post office, if not more.
Most larger sellers never step foot inside the post office. I haven't been inside one in about a year and a half. Last thing I would ever do is hand a package to a retail clerk. There is no better way to get extra scrutiny on your package and for them to find something wrong with it.
This option is for the same sort of people who list items on their phone and don't own a computer.

Unlikely that using QR codes will become "law".
Many of the Post Offices near me (including my zip) do not have any "label printing" capabilities, and unless I am going someplace, or have an inordinate # of packages, I do not go to the Post Office with my packages.
Are you suggesting that eBay plans to eliminate any sellers that can not/do not go to a Post Office that has the ability to process a QR code?
