Buyer wont pick up package

The package was sent and it needed to be sign for. The delivery failed cause the buyer was not home I'm guessing. The package has been sitting for 5 days and now the buy sent a did not receive the item claim saying he works until 5:30 weekdays but did not go pick up the package on Saturday. What do or can I do.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

In theory, the item will be returned to you at some point (after 15 days, IIRC). If it is returned, I'd refund the buyer the cost of the item only--not shipping.

If the buyer opens an "Item Not Received" case on eBay, s/he "should" lose, since s/he failed to pick up the package at the post office; however, it's hard telling what eBay will do these days.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

if you refund them: they just go and pick up the item:

stall and wait until package it picked up or is to be returned...

enter the tracking number in the case...

It was a $759 sale so the Signature Confirmation was correct. You must (must) upload the tracking number to the Item Not Received dispute to show that it is available for pickup, which eBay considers to be the same as Delivered.

He might be hoping to run out the clock, score a refund and snag the item as well, but as long as you respond with the tracking number uploaded to the dispute where indicated, that should block him from getting a refund. He can still pick up the package anytime, such as next Saturday if not sooner. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

I see that your items sold are high value graphics cards, these are extremely sought after by scammers & they try to find ways to get them for free. By all means, DO NOT REFUND THEM now, as mentioned by @donsdetour  they will immediately go to the PO and retrieve package.

If they work till 5:30 (don't we all) they can always make arrangements with a neighbor, roommate, loved one to get parcel, weekends as well.

@stovokor3

APOLOGIES! I MISSED THAT YOUR BUYER HAS ALREADY FILED AN "ITEM NOT RECEIVED" CASE WITH EBAY! SORRY I OVERLOOKED THAT!

So, what you need to do now is upload the tracking number into the case. Even if you've already provided the tracking number during your shipping process, UPLOAD IT INTO THE CASE, TOO!

Again, in theory, eBay will see that the post office attempted delivery and the buyer did not pick up the item. You "should" win the case.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

It appears that you recently sold two items, both over $750 so it was good you sent them with the signature required.

The person who bought your item around July 20 has 100% feedback and a feedback score of 2.

The person who bought your item around July 25 has zero feedback and a feedback score of O.

A Buyer should not be able to open an Item Not Received Case when they are refusing to pick it up at the post office.  If they did open a case, I would enter the tracking number so eBay sees it's at the post office.

Definitely do not refund until you have this high-ticket item back in your possession.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

Buyer can also go on USPS and make redelivery with USPS calendar

I agree high end electronics, graphics cards especially right now are prime scammer targets

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

Honestly, I would see if you could get the package redirected back to you. Even if you win an INR case, it sounds like this buyer will just try to get the card for free using INAD on Paypal or a credit card chargeback.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

Noted that buyer has opened an INR ( Item not received case).

You must respond to the case on eBay by uploading tracking reference number and in comments state delivery attempted awaiting buyer pick up. Also message your buyer with same details including what is shown on Track& trace website.

I would expect your buyer to go and collect the item and if he fails to do this then I would expect eBay to close the case without a refund to buyer.

Should this happen and at a later date your item is returned to you then you should issue a refund to your buyer for the item price. This should help avoid your buyer making a charge back claim.

LOL, they just made the post within the past couple hours.  But yeah, if they are like most (or too many anyway) we'll never know what happened, and nobody will be thanked for their help.

Re: Buyer wont pick up package

Go to usps.com and recall the package. If buyer loses with eBay, they will most likely file with their credit card company and they will keep the money and the card.
