We are vintage doll power sellers (20 yrs on eBay) with perfect feedback and glowing reviews. We recently sold a vintage doll dress in excellent condition. The buyer received the item and sent us a very rude message stating the dress was torn and faded and filthy. The buyer then said they threw it in the trash ? (It was NOT defective in any way as it was looked over extremely carefully as all our items are and in near mint condition. It had no damages, and could not be faded as it was made of white lace and tulle) The buyer said in their message they wanted an immediate response and action from us so we sent a message right back simply stating please send the item back to us and we will issue you a full refund including return shipping via PayPal. The buyer responded with no they will not send it back it was in the trash and now a landfill? Then went on to say how filthy it was and the person it was intended for (their daughter) has congenital heart defect (?!) and can have filthy items near her. They also said they were going to leave negative feedback! What can be done about this? We were extremely professional, prompt and kind, offering a full refund If they return the item even though we know the item was in impeccable condition, just to make the buyer happy.

I wouldn't do anything.

You have already told her to return the item for a refund. If she has really thrown it out, she won't be able to return it, so nothing will come of her threats.
If she does give you a neg, you can get it removed because she was committing feedback extortion, which is against eBay policy.

So sorry to see this bitter buyer threatening you..
1. Place them on your BBL ..
2. No refund without item, do NOT let the "buyer" intimidate you..She probably has done this before, NO ONE goes to the landfill to dump a doll's dress..that's total bull..
3. If you get negative feedback from this crazy lady , call Ebay and show them the feedback threat..
4. Repeat step #1...BBL!!!

So your buyer states that she threw it in the trash THEN took the trash to the landfill (that is so funny, well not really). Wow, your buyer really wanted that horrible horrible dress to be gone and unreturnable. Who among us has ever thrown an item in the trash then made a trip to the dump to empty that trash? Not to mention the daughter's ailment thingie (card playing). This entire scenario is way beyond ridiculous, some might even say implausible. Hello BBL.

So this buyer threw away a $56 item...yeah right, sure she did.
If she gives you a neg call ebay to get it removed.

This buyer is trying to scam you into issuing a full refund while they keep the item. Using negative feedback as a threat is feedback extortion and against eBay policy.
As others have said, you have done the right thing. Return for refund. If they keep sending harassing messages, say Return for refund once more, then ignore them.
If they do leave negative feedback, call eBay and have it removed. Ask eBay rep to read all messages.
Be sure to block this buyer, as well.
Good luck!

Almost as good as the request I got today who wanted a refund because I did not fold it neatly and now she had to iron the fabric.
The length some people will go to.

I think she got you mixed up with another seller.

Advise her to return for a refund and send her a return label. Do not communicate further and place her on your BBL. Save the communications in case you need them.
If she is foolish enough to attempt to return an empty package using the return label, immediately file a mail fraud complaint since you have her own statement that the item was disposed of at the landfill so she could not possibly have returned it. File with the local police also. It is doubtful that they will do much, but you will at least receive a case number. Send eBay the case number.

Well this morning the buyer left me an unwarranted negative feedback 😤 no more communication from them just left a neg stating the dress was filthy and torn? I replied that their comment was completely NOT true and that I reported them to eBay for feedback extortion. I’m not happy

Call ebay point out the extortion and request the feedback be removed
