Hello ~ I'm hoping for a bit of advice here as a new ebayer:
A buyer purchased a purse from me over three weeks ago that was advertised as 'new with defects'.
The purse is new however has a couple of light rub marks on the leather piping (which was disclosed in the description and pictures) She wrote and said she was buying it for her granddaughter for her birthday. She went ahead and gave it to her and even said that she loves it. We offered her a full refund and didn't hear back from her until today with a case filed saying that she wants to keep it but get a partial refund. In all her correspondence, she has never mentioned any kind of amount she was looking for. I'm not sure what to do but I feel like I am being scammed for negative feedback! I could really use some advice!

I would respond to the case with return for refund and leave it at that.

As fern*wood stated, you MUST respond to the case- clicking 'return for refund'. If the 'return' is 'not as described', you will pay for the return shipping label, which you will be asked to approve and/or provide.
Be sure to do this.
Don't worry about feedback, nobody that matters cares (ebay).

Oh yes, we are definitely planning on responding with the full refund option as we stated from the get go. We were concerned about a negative ratings since we only have 14 feedback at this point and things are slow to sell 😕 so that would make us look really bad in our feedback percentage. It looks like she could leave negative feedback whether we gave her a partial refund or a full refund. Super bummer 😞 Thanks for your response, it really helps to be able to reach out to the ebay community. We really appreciate it!

When/if a buyer is determined to leave negative feedback, there is nothing at all you can do to prevent it.

Your first priority is doing what YOU need to do to keep your account on the straight and narrow with eBay. That means responding with "return for refund". Maybe she will and maybe she won't. If she doesn't you don't have to worry about it.
Re the feedback issue: There is no guarantee that a buyer will leave good or bad feedback on ANY transaction. But as one responder has already noted... no one who matters cares anymore. Those days are gone.
If a buyer leaves negative feedback, you can respond to it with your side of the story... "Offered full refund for return, buyer declined" or something similar. That's easily done; see the link at the bottom of your feedback page.
You'll be okay. : )

I think she is playing you; I would tell her to return it for a full refund. Then I would block her.
She knew the condition of the purse, or should have if she read the description and looked at the pictures.
As stated above, you can respond to any negative feedback by providing the facts.

Your buyer knew that the handbag was advertised with defects and purchased it anyways. She has already gifted it to her granddaughter who she claims loves it. She is merely attempting to get some money back. As the others have stated have her return it for a full refund.
It's unlikely that she will return the handbag as she isn't going to retrieve it from her granddaughter. However, it in the off chance she does return it I would be more specific in the listing description about the defects by mentioning the wear to the piping. There isn't anything you can do to avoid negative feedback if a buyer chooses to leave it. However you can always leave a professional response to a buyer's feedback. i.e full refund for return declined

Buyer overplayed her hand, she wasn't going to return it nor could she now since she gave the item away and it no longer qualifies for the MBG.
