The buyer wanted a refund before I sent it out to him, and I simply told him no I don’t offer refunds, which is what my listing said. And he tried to open a case when he got it, BUT, it was closed within 24 hours because he received the product, and did not further complain. He used the product for 6 days, and then today opens a case claiming “ it arrived damage “ I’ve never felt with a more shady buyer in my life. He used the product for 6 days, and then today he decided to open a case saying it “ arrived damaged.” But my thing is that is a whole 6 days later, obviously he is lying. But my funds are put on hold so I don’t know what to do.

"The buyer wanted a refund before I sent it out to him, and I simply told him no I don’t offer refunds"
I can think of no valid reason to not cancel an order if it hasn't shipped.
"But my thing is that is a whole 6 days later, obviously he is lying."
Not obvious at all, how do you know he wasn't out of town for six days.

If a buyer changes his mind, it's a blessing if they let you know before you send it. I just offer 30 day returns because I realized eBay will most likely refund their money regardless if they file an "item not as described".

First mistake:
"The buyer wanted a refund before I sent it out to him,"
Should have cancled the sale:
Now you have a item not as described case wich gives you Tow choices;
Let em keep item and refund Or eBay will refund for you:
Or return for refund which you pay for the return and then refund em. Or eBay will refund em for you.
Your choice.
Oh and they still have the option if this fails to go with a payment dispute to get their money back. Just saying so you know.

Lucky they then did not do a charge back on the card they paid with...
It is always an option.
Options for the buyer are: eBay: then payment method.
Buyers have all the cards in such situations.

Too much refund vs return confusion on these forums due to lack of education. People really need to research before jumping into selling...
They should have a test you have to pass.

I'm faced with this situation now. I sold a $2200 leather jacket to a guy who is claiming it arrived damaged. No damages to the box or the heavy duty garment bag it arrived wrapped in. I accepted the return but when I got it back I can see where he got the cuff zipper snagged & tore the sleeve. Thankfully I record all my outgoing items proving it didn't leave my home in this condition & there's no doubt this buyer damaged my jacket. I opened a case with ebay & we will see where it goes from here but what an eye opener. 15 years selling on eBay & this has never happened. Some buyers are just very dishonest people who will use eBay money back guarantee to their advantage. Fingers crossed eBay does the right thing here.

Im in the same situation now. How did you win? Ebay told me to accept the return as they will refund the buyer automatically if it gets escalated to them.

It's not over yet. Buyer can still appeal, and buyer can still do a chargeback on his credit card. Hold on for the ride.

Even though you say you have a no return policy doesn't mean eBay won't allow it to be returned. I have had the same issue before and eBay always lets them return the item. It seems eBay is more on the buyers side than the sellers. You do have the option to just do a partial refund of money but not all of it. No matter where you sell, you will always run into people that want something for nothing or are just crooked. Scammers are everywhere.

eBay doesn't look at recordings

There is no winning when a ‘not as described’ case is opened.
There is, however, losing.
If you don’t provide a shipping label to the buyer, eBay will refund out of your account and the buyer gets to keep the item.
