I open a defect return..get a label.
Seller emails and pleads with me to open the unit and make internal repairs (it may be a loose wire). They acknowledge it is broken.
Not too comfortable doing that. Can I still send the item back? Or I need their permission? Ebay says I can send till Feb 5th.
I bought this for someone(they are paying me to install) and they aren't thrilled with that.

Open a ITEM NOT AS DECRIBED claim in resolution center and getting refund after you return this item to the seller
i would advise against altering item by trying to repair it
Good Luck

You need to read eBay Return & Refund Policy. From your post it seems the seller knowingly listed and sold a car stereo that did not work and now want you to have the unit repaired. This is not your responsibility.
Therefore, take the stereo and repackage it in a box or use the original box, if it is in good condition, add the return label and scoot over to the post office.
Do not close the case until you are REFUNDED!

From the post, it seems the poster already opened a case, i.e. "I open a defect return..get a label."

Yes I opened a case when I was sure the radio didn't work. I am familiar with this product. I know about his fix, but I feel weird doing it with a brand new item. There is also a tamper sticker on the radio. There is no guarantee his fix can work, then he may give me a hard time for a broken tamper sticker.
Seller said the warranty won't be void.
He contacted me minutes after I made the return.
These are android radios that fit into your car with a full android interface.
