Please be aware when shipping from Staples that it may not leave that day or even the next. It will be counted late. We have learned this the hard way and although it was not late to the buyer. eBay shipping counts it late because it is not scanned right away. Just hoping to help out other sellers. Every little bit helps these days.
Have a great weekend & Happy Thanksgiving.

Please be aware that when shipping something that you don't actually have in your possesion, that it may not leave that day or even the next.

Such are the perils of drop shipping.

Buying from Staples and have them ship to your customer is not allowed.

As @fab_finds4u says .........what you are doing i retail arbitrage and forbidden on Ebay. Sellers have been booted for violations.
Drop shipping, where you fulfill orders directly from a wholesale supplier, is allowed on eBay. Remember that if you use drop shipping, you’re still responsible for the safe delivery of the item within the time frame stated in your listing and for the buyer’s overall satisfaction with their purchase.
However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.

My daughter did this one time and it made it safely to the customer. I was just letting people know that they had a drop off and she was sending something else. She never purchased something at the time she dropped it off. It was not anything that was a normal to do. We go to the post office several times a week and I was just trying to help others by learning from our mistake.
I will not be posting again.....

We DID NOT BUY from Staples. She was there dropping off something else and they told her they could take her other package as well. This was a while ago. I will not be posting again. We were just trying to help.

@frecklesfinery88 Apologies...........sorry we jumped to the wrong conclusion....... I did not realize that your were dropping off packages to be mailed at Staples.......frankly, did not realize one could do that.
I would ask you to understand that drop shipping can be a problem on Ebay for Sellers who don't understand the differences.......
Again, sorry to have misjudged your issue........

Hi @frecklesfinery88 . What shipping carrier was it? Staples used to accept both UPS and USPS. Several years ago they changed it to accept only UPS.
UPS labels can be scanned on the spot and UPS picks up daily. Even if you're too late for the daily UPS pickup, you'll still have a scan by the Staples clerk.
USPS however, Staples cannot scan and they do not have an arrangement for daily pickups for customer drop offs. So if your package was USPS it's not surprising to hear it sat there for a while. The clerk that accepted it might have assumed it was UPS and taken it in error.
Hope that info helps for next time.

OK, so it was a USPS package then? Staples stopped accepting USPS back in 2017. Here's a quote from an article published in January 2017:
The U.S. Postal Service will no longer be offering its services at Staples stores across the country.
Those services, which were handled by Staples employees, will be discontinued at about 500 of the office supply retailer’s locations by the first week of March.
The USPS said in a statement that in November it was ordered by a National Labor Relations Board administrative law judge to discontinue its retail relationship with Staples and that it plans to comply.
Staples confirmed that its partnership with USPS would be ending, saying in a statement that its customers would still have access to shipping services through its relationship with UPS.

Thank you for understanding. We just try to help on this board. We do everything we are supposed to the way we are supposed to according to eBay policy.
With the Holidays & Shipping times we just wanted to make others aware.
Thank you for your kindness.

My apologies reading your post I drew the wrong conclusion. Simply dropping packages anywhere including the post office may create this issue if you do not obtain an actual scan at the time of the drop off and get a receipt. I have seen things stolen from the drop off carts at the post office. People simply grab a couple of packages and run out the door and the postal works are not allowed to stop them.

There is more risk and delay shipping from places like that. Also, if the package goes missing, the shipper's insurance won't cover it. It's not in force until they scan it.
