It worked for a few days and one day I received a confirmation of pick up and my packages were still at my door. Should I slap my postal carrier with one of my boxes?

contact your local PO.

So I shouldn't slap people in the faces with packages...Sorry I'm gut laughing at this. That's a good idea. I'll contact local post office.

Happens several times a year with my carriers. The answer from my local post office for packages not picked up is due to temporary carriers filling in for the regular carriers that day. I set a timer and if packages are not picked up, off to the post office I go and then leave a note explaining why packages are not there just in case I went to early.

Contacting your local PO could get someone in trouble, and then you have problems/trouble for years to come (they picked it up, but leave in truck, small packages, throw out of the truck (oops) etc.
1.) Get to know who your normal carrier is and if you see them, find out when they are off.
2.) Know that your carrier is off 1 day a week and gets 3 to 8 weeks off a year, so subs fill in
3.) when a sub fills in, they may not know to check paperwork before they leave for the morning or are overwhelmed
4.) Certain times of year, usps has a separate carrier pick up packages

When I had temp carrier problems, I talked to the Postmaster and the carrier supervisor.......both worked with the temps and didn't have much trouble except with one particular one.......they had to send her back twice.......on her time.........but after that no problems.
I really think most Postmasters WANT to know the problems.....especially as it's easy to report them on line and they can't "like" that on their records. It would also be fairly easy to "pin" problems to a certain employee.
Having said that.......working with your postman is always a good idea, as is small thankyou present around Christmas....... but that won't help with the temp problem.

Would probably attempt to speak with the carrier first, then move further up the ladder.
". . . could get someone in trouble"? Wouldn't that be the point when it's discovered that an employee is not performing their job?

Just as in skydiving without a parachute is just fine until you reach the ground. It doesn't matter whether the post office picks up the package. The problem is how they toss them around and throw them across your yard like a Frisbee when they are too lazy to walk to your door. Check out the delivery videos on YT these days. The images are scarier than Halloween!
No, don't slap federal employees. They have to suffer enough in their dead end jobs.

IMO, not really all that funny to suggest slapping anyone in the face with anything, frankly. Even in jest.
Just my two cents . . .

The carriers have a form they're supposed to scan at the time of pickup. If they scan it, you'll get that message, regardless of whether or not it actually has been. I've seen it because my replacement carrier didn't know how to handle them and was leaving them in my mailbox! (I'll be so glad when my regular carrier is back from her knee replacement surgery!)
FWIW - it doesn't have any information on there other than the number and type of packages (e.g. 3 Priority, 2 First Class, etc.). It's just to let the carrier know there are packages to be picked up and how many.

the carriers have there own way of doing things and I guess the probem is all the vacation dates and holidays and so forth
I always take my packages to the drop bin in the morning
as far as complaing I would never do that..I do not need the drama in my head thinking that maybe the carrier is miffed with me. I like to take care of my own packages
now when my news paper is missing I certainly call
they deliver both sunday papers together and the paper carrier has to wait till they are both done at the printer
sunday papers are like $5 a piece

I think it's a clerical clitch and doesn't have anything to do with the actual mail carrier. I had a stretch where quite often my mail carrier was getting no pick up slip or getting it a day late. (sometimes it happens when my regular carrier is on vacation or has a day off) Call the local post office in your zip code where your mail is sorted and ask to talk to a supervisor. I finally did this and he had someone pick up my package within an hour. It still happens to me on occasion, in fact it happened yesterday. My carrier may have a slip for today when it was actually for dated yesterday. I just put a note in the mailbox for him that I have a package today just in case. Good luck!

Getting someone in trouble is tantamount to sending back your food at a restaurant. Best to eat it, shut up, pay the bill and never return (spit in your food etc.?).
But, with a postal carrier; they are there for weeks, months, years and all the little 'problems' that can come up will leave you wondering if it's retaliation or simply a lame or uninformed worker.
I always talked with the 'regular' carrier (when I saw her) and told her about xyz last week on Tuesday etc. and she was off (as she confirmed). Then, she would talk to the boss about her 'fill in' dropping the ball.
There are certain people/trades that 'getting them in trouble' is ok. This is not one of them.
