I bought 2 items on Ebay recently that both came in Amazon boxes shipped from different locations than where I ordered from.

Some sellers dropship from amazon & its allowed here. Some sellers also use amazons 3rd party prime program to fulfill orders. Some sellers abuse their regular prime membership to dropship. Again all allowed by ebay.

Some sellers use Amazon Fulfillment or just their Amazon Prime to fill eBay orders, in the same way others use dropshippers.

It's great advertising for Amazon. Buyers, if they are smart, will check Amazon first, as you will get your better deal there. Sellers increase the price for the same item on Ebay to include Ebay and PayPal fees, etc...

It's been a while since I checked but dropshipping using Amazon Prime wasn't allowed on Amazon and could get the account revoked.

they get around it by adding the buyer address to their prime membership ship to address and ask AMZN to send it as a gift to this buyer friend.
so now the Ebay buyer is a friend and AMZN will ship it as a gift .
Some one got his prime membership suspended as he was selling electronic items and too many of his 'friendly buyers' choose to return the items, causing AMZN to lose money.

Feel free to express your honest opinion of the seller's practices.

I tried buying more from eBay to move away from Amazon, and it turns out a lot of the "eBay" merchants I bought from were selling under a false flag. They were really just Amazon.
Ewwww.
I'll go back to using eBay for kewl vintage stuff and do the rest of my shopping elsewhere.

I sell at both places. It would be possible to get an item I have in an Amazon Warehouse from Amazon even though you bought it on Ebay. Amazon allows sellers to use their warehouse shipping. That being said, it is possible that item could ship from an Amazon warehouse. Fulfillment by Amazon will do that.

The same thing happened to me. eBay has been promoted as the less evil alternative to Amazon. If I wanted to order from Amazon I would have. If the item has a gift receipt complain to eBay and leave negative feedback.
I contacted eBay through Twitter and got this response. “Thanks for all that info! Just to clarify, did the item have a gift receipt inside, or did it just arrive in an Amazon package? We do allow sellers to sell their own inventory through services like Fulfilled by Amazon, but they aren't allowed to directly purchase it from a marketplace or retailer”.
