All returns now accepted automatically? Please explain new policy.

So I have had a few returns now and it seems even though they have been returns similar to item not as described they are automatically accepted.  So what is the deal with returns now, when am I being charged for the return shipping label and when are the buyers paying return shipping.

Today I have a wrong item sent return(claims I sent wrong size, I admit mistake in the past however now double check to avoid this!), it was accepted automatically.  I see no indication anywhere on the return that I was charged for shipping.  Is this on ebay now or what?  I know the buyer will not be satisfied paying shipping

I can't tell the tree's from the forest anymore in ebay's war against amazon.  Yes I want ebay to be larger then amazon, ok I will pay money for returns and try my best to swollow the 1-2 times a week anger of the ~20% of buyers that abuse returns.  But what is the sense of changing this stuff without us having a rundown of everything.  I am not stupid and like to know exactly what is going on with these changes.   So what is the deal, are we in for a treat and ebay is paying for buyers who have too many item not as described returns and they are ON THEIR WAY TO A BAN, or are sellers going to eat more of return costs?  I am fine either way, I am trying to focus on profits only and filter out anger from people abusing returns.  And from what I have seen returns are very little in total compared to profit, it is just the anger that people will do to save a few dollars in shipping after ordering things in their mistake.

I realize that it can be hard to keep up with the changes that are now happening 3- or 4-times a year on eBay, but it is important to read and understand each of the Seller Updates when they come out.

In the 2018 Summer Update, eBay announced that all returns would now be automatically accepted - both remorse and SNAD/INAD returns would be accepted automatically.  Here is the link where you can read up on it:

You will pay for the return shipping on all SNAD/INAD returns.

You will pay for the shipping if you have free returns (30-day or 60-day free returns).

The buyer will pay for all other returns.

You won’t see a charge for a return shipping label right away either. It will be on your monthly invoice. eBay doesn’t charge you as soon as the return as accepted.

I have one where the customer wants a partial refund and keep the item.  How do I do this?  Wait until it times out for shipping, then send him partial through paypal?  I just don't want to screw this up, it was my largest sale in a while (on another account) and I don't want ebay to just take my $160.

He called ebay because he was trying to send a picture and they "fixed" it by opening a case.  And, by the way, I still can't see his pictures.

In your list of options in the return case, do you have the option to offer a partial refund?

How can you tell what returns I will be charged for shipping and what the buy will pay.  What options charge me and what options must the buyer pay?

If the buyer files one of the Significantly Not As Described complaints, the seller pays for return shipping.
