Advice re return request from buyer

Hello - This is the first time someone has asked to return an item of mine, so would love some advice.  I sold a gray leather jacket in mint condition, with the color described only as “gray” and “lucious gray”, but with multiple images and the name of the designer (there are many images of this jacket online).  My policy clearly states returns not accepted.  The buyer requested expedited shipping so she could wear it this last weekend.  At the end of the weekend, she rather rudely demanded a return, stating that “the color is not at all what you described”.   Thanks for recommendations on how to proceed.

After looking at pictures of your sold jacket, to me it's gray.

There are many shades of gray and the buyer wanted a certain shade of gray. If you decline the return, ebay will refund the buyer and let her keep the jacket. I would send her a return label and refund once you receive the jacket.

Has the buyer filed a SNAD complaint with eBay?

As I am new to eBay I have had only one return, however, after the buyer initiated a return via the return purchase option online, eBay not I sent a return label. Perhaps this was because I accept returns at buyers expense.

Unfortunate. Sounds like you got one of those buyers we all dread. Bought it to wear to an event and decided they would find a reason to send it back. Probably didn't find it comfortable or something - giving the benefit of the doubt - or may not have like the color of gray and you as the seller get to foot the bill for the shipping both ways, plus the strike.

You could fight the return, but statistically, you will probably lose the outcome and if that happens, you might lose the cash and the coat.

Take it back, pay the return shipping and block the buyer. About all you can do that is pretty risk free.

Sorry this happened to you. Try and have a Merry Christmas,

Cheers

Sorry this happened to you.  Sounds suspiciously like a 'rental' to me.   She needed it for the weekend and wanted to return it right after the weekend?

Still doesn't change that you will need to take the return and refund them.

Simply answer ' return for refund' and wait until it is returned before issuing a refund.

COYOTES RULE!!!

She wore it and now is ready to return it. I’m curious though...I thought ebay doesn’t consider “wrong color” grounds for SNAD because colors look different on different monitors. You might want to call them and ask.

Oh, and I’d forgotten to mention that this was after I accepted her offer of a large reduction in price.

Thanks all for your helpful responses.  Sounds like 1) accept return, 2) don’t give back $ til receive, and then 3) block.

Happy holidays!
