Address longer than 40 characters error on label generated by eBay International Shipping!

an international buyer bought something from me and used the eBay International Shipping option. which means ebay picked the freight forwarder and generated the label for said customer. when i try to print the label, ebay won't let me. it says i have to shorten the name, but the name field has the information that the freight forwarder needs to identify the customer to which the item is going. so it's not like i can just chop off "inc" or "jr" as the end to make the name fit. 

i don't know what to do. i've had to cancel several orders due to things like this recently. in the past ebay penalized me for cancelling orders for bad addresses and raised my fees, even though the issue was the address and i had selected the reason for cancellation as issue with address. if i try to make it fit and the customer doesn't get it, who's fault is it? 

this is a whole new level of stupid. this is an error generated by ebay. they can't even blame the customer for this. this problem has been around for years now. how is it still not fixed? does anyone actually work at this company?

Is the address going to Glendale Illinois? 

A Freight Forwarder is NOT something that eBay chooses; it's something (it's a place in the US) that a Buyer chooses to use and has a US Address.

Let me get this straight. An international buyer bought something from you and the package is going to a freight forwarder? If so, then why would the postage label be an international label? It might just be that I don't understand how EIS works as I've never done it.

Really? I've never heard of a seller experiencing this. You should be protected under that "problem with buyer's address" reason. Does ebay suspect you of abusing that cancellation reason?

I don't understand EIS process with making labels. But it sounds like anything other postage with a character limit. You mention that all the extra characters are not necessarily for USPS delivery but for freight forwarder sorting. If so, just remove those words in order to print out the postage label. Once it prints out write down or type out the extra words you removed and attach it to the package right next to the postage label. That way the freight forwarder can see the "sorting notes". It's not against USPS policy to have those notes on the package.

I've helped several sellers with this issue. In most cases it was over by only 2-3 characters so I advised them to eliminate spaces or extra characters.

Made up  example, change:

eIS C/O Mateo Domingo Santos Rodriguez, Jr

to:

eIS C/O MateoDomingo Santos RodriguezJr

How many characters do you have to eliminate? Will the above option work for you?

I utilize the company name line and address line 2 and just shift things around a little bit keeping all the same information and it's never been a problem
