Did you mean:

Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

They shouldn't even offer this option to sellers as it means nothing.

Buyer buys $6000 item.

It was a graded comic book.

Buyer decided he didn't like it and wanted to return it as "Item not as Described" even though it was listed as a 3.0 book, which it was, CGC verified and graded it thay way.

Ebay didn't care to protect me, the seller from a buyer who was experiencing buyers remorse, so they reversed the sale and now my Paypal account is -$3,700

BEWARE SELLERS: YOU HAVE NO PROTECTION.

No Returns is 100% **bleep**

Having a No Returns policy only affects Remorse Returns.  By claiming the item was not as describe you are stuck paying the return shipping as well as accepting the return.

I'm really sorry this is happening to you. When they ship it back, I suggest recording you opening it at the post office to ensure there is no fraud.

High value items such as this are scammers paradise. I would suggest that unless you are selling 20 of these high dollar amount items a month, with no problems, and have sufficient funds for these types of returns,  that you do not list them here especially if you are a newer seller. It is not a safe thing to do. No returns on your listing does not mean no refunds.

yeah, because then post office is totally going to know what you sent and vouch for what you got back

The only problem with that is that even if post office would be willing to bear witness to the opening of the package on camera, all that they could really testify to would be that the saw you open it and what you removed from the packaging.  They could not actually testify that what you removed from it was not what you had originally sent.

By the way, I do not believe USPS policy permits employees to get involved in such things.  Especially if it entails them taking working time to watch you open a package.

Re: Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

I remain confused as to why people continue to think opening packages in front of certain people or making recordings means anything. What exactly does it prove?

When the seller receives a return, they usually receive it at their home unless they have a post office box. At home it would be very easy to get inside a package, slip in an incorrect item, and then open the re-sealed package in front of supposedly trustworthy people and claim the buyer committed fraud.

OP, as you probably know, Paypal gives a buyer 180 days to open a case, which means any money you get from a transaction can be revoked well past what eBay says. When you think about it, with chargebacks and long refund windows, the money isn't safe for a good while.

eBay reps really have no sure way of knowing if your buyer truly received an item that was not as described, so they refund the money.

Re: Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

I know that, but it was a CGC graded 3.0 - He claimed it was "Not as advertised" but he was sent a CGC graded 3.0 - His reasoning makes no sense.  It's a case of Ebay siding with a buyer who has remorse of a purchase and screwing me out of a sale.  The item was EXACTLY as Described.  That's why I pay CGC $100 to grade the book!  So now I'm out grading fees, shipping fees both ways, and I have no confidence in Ebay as a viable selling platform.

Re: Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

Do not EVER do that again here with SUCH an expensive, rare, and wonderful item that you could have sold face to face to an honest person with no major financial loss. This is Not the place to sell such things and there is NO WAY at this point for Ebay to support you when a scammer does this on here. I wish it were very different but it is what it is .

Just hope you get your item back in one piece & learn that you can't sell anything on eBay worth Real Value.

It's just not worth it..

Re: Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

I agree with other posts, EBay may not be the best platform for this type of sale. Collectibles Can be subjective and should really be handled face to face, and at this level, with the assistance of a bonded expert.
EBay is great for “garage sale” selling to help get rid of unwanted stuff and for items under a few hundred dollars that you may do bulk selling to make a little extra money...great for retirement supplement income where a bogus deal on occasion won’t break the bank.
My advice on No Return, is to use it and also mention sold as is in the description. Head it off at pre sale....a less than scrupulous buyer will usually go elsewhere.

Re: Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

I posted some of my thoughts and had one more. When selling very inexpensive items, the buyers experience is less important. Beware of new or infrequent buyers, they tend to be more afraid of the process and remorseful.

Re: Adding NO RETURNS to your listing is WORTHLESS

What is the complaint exactly? I have won cases before depending on the complaint. One time I listed a belt clearly in the women's category, titled women's and had it titled something like  Belt 32" and the brand name. Buyer opened a return request saying that they were mislead and though they were buying a Mens belt size 32. I called up ebay and argued that it was listed in the women's belts category and the " means inches and not a size. They sided with me and said I didn't have to take the return if I didn't want to. I wound compromising with the buyer that i would only take it back if they paid for return shipping AND they were only refunded their original cost and not the original shipping cost. Otherwise they wouldn't get a dime.

So point remaining here if the complaint is about the grade and you clearly stated what the grade is you might have a case.

This was with having 30 day regular returns on my listing as well.
