Hi, I just realized that the package I sent had a double label, UPS for authentication and USPS for the buyer. I accidently dropped it off at USPS, so I think it's heading straight to the buyer instead of authentication. I don't know what happens now? Do I reach out to the buyer? Am I not going to get my funds released because it didn't go to the authenticator? I didn't know it was supposed to be shipped through UPS first and now I'm freaking out.

How did it get a double label? Can you recall it?

Was it possibly a UPS Ground Saver (Surepost) label where it's a dual-carrier service - UPS takes it the first part of the way then USPS completes delivery?
There should be no label that has 2 different destination addresses on it between authenticator and buyer - label will have either one or the other.
If you're unsure of the answers to my question, use the "reprint" function so you can download a PDF of the label.
To reprint a label purchased through eBay (or download a copy of a QR code through the reprint function), go to this page, find the order and select Reprint from the Actions drop-down. The reprint option is available for 7 days.
Let's assume, for the time being, this was a UPS Ground Saver label and you left it with USPS. That can be problematic, though it's too early to tell what will happen.
Some post offices will pass it to UPS and others will not. USPS has been a lot more strict about not taking these types of packages. Technically they're not supposed to accept them and can get rid of them. But some POs will pass on to UPS.
Are there any scans? When did you drop it off at USPS? Any chance it was today and you can go back to try and retrieve it?
I'm sure this is the one and only time you'll make this mistake - it's super important to drop off packages with the correct carrier.
By the way - that's pretty unique - or maybe it's common - but I've never seen a necklace like that. I wish you the best of luck with it!

Call the post office and see if you can recall the package.

I don't know how that can happen as you've described it.
For items that go to the authenticator, the seller never sees the buyer's shipping information. And there's a reason for that.
If ebay let sellers see the shipping info for the buyer, it would be too easy for sellers to circumvent the program, could lead to fakes being sold and not caught and it defeats the whole purpose of the AG program.

I see customers while waiting in line at the post office try to drop off a UPS package. They are told it will not be shipped.
Your package might still be there at the post office...depending on when it got dropped off.

Yes it was UPS groundsaver so it had the UPS barcode then s USPS barcode. I went to USPS this morning to ask what happens when they accidently get UPS packages and they said UPS comes and gets them, it will just be delayed. However I just checked the tracking and the tracking info for the UPS barcode says nothing, but the tracking for the USPS barcode has been scanned as of today looks like it is in Arizona. So it seems to be heading straight to the buyer in CA

When you look at the order details, is the ship to address the buyer or the authenticator?
When you use the reprint function on the label, is the ship to address the buyer or the authenticator?

It looks like the only shipping address I can see on my end in the order details is for the gemological institute of America, which I assume is where it would be authenticated. So maybe it is heading there after all? The UPS address on the label is for the post office in Carlsbad CA, and the USPS address on the label is for the gemological institute, which is also in Carlsbad CA.

Your package is going to the authenticator as it should. Keep an eye on tracking, but you said it appears to already be moving which is great.
You got lucky that your PO is one that passes packages to UPS still.
Come back if you need more help, but I think you'll be OK.

Okay I'll keep an eye on the tracking. Fingers crossed. Thank you!
