A buyer purchased 12 designer bags out of my store over the course of a week. It felt hinky to me, but a sale is a sale.
She left feedback for three. Suddenly, she canceled three purchases. Now also returning the majority of them.
Some she claimed were defective, but they weren’t — they were brand new. I got that part squared away with eBay.
Then she claimed she’s having a family emergency, and that’s why she’s returning them. EBay recognized her as having buyer’s remorse. Their words, not mine.
The latest, and most disturbing to me, is she said she said she “called” the post office (she’s away for the family emergency) and refused three of the bags.
My thought is she didn’t want to pay for more return postage.
Does anyone one have experience with USPS delivery refusal? Any idea how long it might take to get my bags back?
Thank you in advance for your input.
Vic

Yes, you can block her right now. Putting a member on your blocked-bidders list only blocks them from bidding or buying. It won't block communications, nor activities related to existing transactions.

A refused package is usually sent back out by the local PO with the next outgoing mail, there's no reason to hang onto it. Priority Mail automatically includes return postage benefit; if you used Parcel Select you'll have to pay Postage Due to ransom the packages when they get back to your local PO.
An interesting twist here is that the buyer protection policy (AKA Money Back Guarantee) says that refused packages are not guaranteed a refund, except under specific circumstances which do not include remorse. BLOCK this buyer
Some would say a self centered, impulsive, & unreasonable buyer.

Thank you. Can I block her when my items have not been returned yet?
Also, what about her refusing my USPS shipments?
Thanks.

Hi,
I am so sorry you are going through this. I've had one refused package in my time of (very limited) Ebay selling .
I never got the package back. It was sent to the buyer USPS Priority Mail. Tracking only showed "buyer refused" (who knows why) and "package is on its way back to the sender". Nothing else. Ever. I could not find any sort of reverse tracking.
Needless to say, no refund was issued. Who knows where the package ended up. I never heard from the buyer again (which in itself was odd because wouldn't you want your money back - it wasn't an inexpensive item).
You cannot refund the buyer until the package comes back to you. Don't let the buyer try to bully you into doing so.

Thank you so much for replying to my plea. I will put her on my blocked list.
Also, thank you for the information about buyer protection. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t pursue, but she turned me completely upside down and cleaned out my store.
All the care I put in packaging carefully went down the drain as well. She shipped every bag back without packaging/protection. Thanks a million!
The buyer only lost her INR buyer protection with eBay. She can still file a return case with eBay and win. And she can file an INR with PayPal and will.

Thank you so much. And I’m so sorry to hear you lost your priority mail package. That happened to me a few months ago. It was hung up at a USPS facility forever. My local Postmaster said that someone neatly slit both the top and bottom of my package. The empty package was sent back to my post office. A good friend, who is a Postmaster said, based on the information I gave her, someone from the USPS took my Tiffany necklace. Lucky for me, my buyer was a seasoned eBayer. I refunded her and she left positive feedback for me. Sad but true.
Thanks again for replying to me. I appreciate it very much.
P.S. Russian Blues are one of the coolest cat breeds. We used to own one. They’re quirky, jumpy, silly, so gorgeous and FUN.

I had a woman (dancingfrida) contact me and beg me to sell her an already reduced to $1,100.00 necklace for 875.00. She cited hardship due to the hurricanes etc. I accepted her offer and mailed the item at my expense, insured, the same day. She refused to accept it and the post office after sending multiple reminders, returned the package after 30 days. So it is now on its way back to me 46 days after I sent it. She then called her bank and did a chargeback to paypal. This is basically fraud. She is trying to thwart my no return policy. She never contacted me in all that time or ebay. So the money back guarantee has expired from ebay. It is the same thing that has happened in my retail store. I had a woman buy a Baptismal Gown, and bring it back with spit up all over it and threw it on the counter and walked out, then tried to do a chargeback. Her CC company threatened to close her card if she ever did it again!! Now I am overdrawn on Paypal, as they have to resolve it and took the 875.00 out of my account!!! I feel like we need better protection as seller's on ebay! Anyone else feel this way?
