Why is a "Best Answer" button showing up on topics being replied to?

Well here's another fine mess you've gotten us into.

This morning I posted a reply to the Topic below, which had/has a Best Answer button next to the Reply button.  When I clicked on Reply my answer was selected as Best Answer and a check mark was next to the topic title. The check mark is now gone, but the Best Answer button is still in the topic as of the time of this post.

It happened again this morning when I went to reply to a previous reply to a topic. There was a Best answer button next to the reply button.  When I clicked on Reply to respond to it the previous reply to the topic was accepted as Best Answer, while the Reply page was loading.

The Best Answer button should only show up when the OP decides to reply, not when others do.  In this instance, the Reply I wanted to reply to had nothing to do with the issue the OP had. However, the person had replied to a previous post of mine.  The one I was replying to was a comment about scammers could be successful sellers if they put as much effort into actually selling.

Right now if I replied to your comment it would probably select your reply as Best Answer, but then in this case I an the OP.  While I find your comment flattering, I'm not entirely sure that is how it was actually meant.   I'm not even sure if this board is being monitored by ebay employees who can report board issues any longer.
