Which page of the Topic/Thread am I on?  

Why do I have to stare at it to try to figure it out? 

Why is the indication so subtle, rather than clear and vivid?

Is this an eye test?

it's laughable that anyone would find this an acceptable way to display which page you're on.  it's deliberately subtle, rather than clear
