In the past couple of weeks I have received "Private Messages" through these boards from apparently other members. Surveys, cash loans, co-op selling with 50/50 profit split. I had one contact me twice. Things that by any stretch would be labelled SPAM.
I believe that through eBay messenger these types of contacts are forbidden. I can report and block them there. But what about here?
How do I (or you) make these stop?

There is no way to preemptively block a member from messaging you anymore. That feature was really handy.
Here's my take on how the ignore/unignore feature works on private messaging now.
Below is a screenshot of a message I received from a member with whom I'd had no previous communication, and I did not reply. You can see from the screenshot that clicking on the gear icon displayed a dropdown menu that included an ignore option (which I did in fact use, so it now says "unignore").

Getting them too...I just delete.

You can report both PMs and posts on this board to the mods. eBay team started a discussion about SPAM on the Community Platform board. You can go read that, but their suggestions are to not reply (don't bump the threads) and report.

I have known about the report link for postings on these boards. I have used it a few times when the posting was absolutely disgusting and I have seen them removed.
BUT I do not see a similar link for Private Messages as they do not come in through any of these threads. They come to the little envelope in the upper right corner. Generally a message there has been from a moderator cracking my knuckles for being too rude. (I once called a whiner a "snowflake" and I was smartly chastised). So when I see the envelope light up my first thought is "Now what did I do?"

To the right of the tile of the private message is a little wheel-shapeds icon. Click on it and "Report as Inappropriate."
Don't know much good it will do, but the option is there.

To report a private message, you can click the gear symbol in the top right corner of the message, then click on "Report as inappropriate".
To delete a message, check the box to the left, then click the gear symbol at the top of the left hand channel and choose "Delete checked".
nicole@ebay, sophia@ebay.com ,
There used to be a way to mark users as "Ignored" in the private messages list, which would prevent them from contacting you again. But I can't see any way to do that now.
How do you "Ignore" a member now, so that they can't send you any private messages?

Hit the gear icon in the upper right of the PM.

Yep, that did allow me to file a report. Wonder why they used an obscure gear icon instead of a direct link "Report Inappropriate Contact"?

There used to be more than 1 option under the gear icon. Report and Ignore. Ignore is gone as Lacemaker pointed out.
My question is why use a gear on PMs but a down carrot icon on board posts? It's inconsistent.

I get them too, I delete and ignore.

B/C a 20something coded the gear, which is not at all obscure, it's very common, but on phone apps & a 40 something coded the link LOL.
I get your point but if all I did was deal with reporting eBay's inconsistencies, I would be VERY busy, every day for the rest of my life.
I've been getting the survey requests from that one imaging company, but have just been deleting.

Hey @richard1rst IDK if you complained or if this got noticed by someone, but I have been sick & I use the PM feature a lot & so I knew I had a certain number of unread PM's & suddenly about an hour ago I noticed it went down 1. I popped my head in as I'm pretty aware of who has reached out & sure enough, the one from the 'spammer' is gone. Poof.

Yes, I reported them all. I would love to think yours disappeared because of my complaint. Because that would mean somebody is actually paying attention. Sometimes that is all we ask for.
