nicole@ebay or anyone else familiar with Community settinngs:
Is there a way to turn off notifications (appearing on the Community bell) when I'm @ mentioned in people's posts? If not, is there a way to turn off ALL notifications that show up on the Community bell? I have a stalker harassing me by @ mentioning me with every reply--even after having been politely asked no to--and the mods are unresponsive.
I've tried a number of the blocks available in the "My Settings" area under "Notifications" but nothing I've tried so far has worked. If nothing else, I'll have to resort to blocking the entire element with my ad blocker app--which I'm willing to do if necessary to stop this harassment. It's getting so it's not a safe environment in which to post anymore.

@eleanor*rigby we'll take a look at the settings and will circle back around.

@eleanor*rigby I am looking into our settings to see if we can have the option to not get notifications when tagged I will let you know if I find anything!

The way it is setup now, to clear the notification bell so they don't show unread, is to open one. Example: if your bell shows X number of new unread notifications, you have to read/open at least one of those, then the bell will show no new notifications. There currently is no way to check a box to remove them, so they populate the list forever but showing read.
It would be nice to be able to keep the count of posts made to community forums, but does one need to be able to open and read a post made back in 2003? So maybe same thing there, box to be able to remove those old post from the host server.

I think you've missed the gist of my original question. Perhaps I wasn't clear:
I want to shut off any notification when someone @ mentions me in their post. I don't want to receive a notification at all when someone @ mentions me. I don't want it to show up on my notification bell at all. This person is @ mentioning me ten times a day, and I don't want those ten to register on my notification bell for obvious reasons.
As far as your reply is concerned, however, I'm not sure the rest of the info is correct. At least, that's not how it works for me (desktop platform).

On the desktop platform, all I have to do to clear the notification number from the bell is click on the bell itself, which then takes me to the "Notification feed" page. That clears the number from the bell. I do not have to open any of them. They still show up on the dropdown list that appears when hovering over the bell, but the number is cleared when one opens the "Notifications feed" page.
I would far prefer to be able to clear the notification bell right there in that dropdown menu--like a "Clear All" option--instead of having to open the "Notification feed" page, but that option doesn't exist.

Again, assuming we're referencing the same thing, everyone's profile displays the "count of posts made to community forums."

Yes, I would suggest one would want a complete record and history of posts for any number of reasons, the least of which might be an accurate result when using the Community search function. Removing older posts would provide an inaccurate and incomplete result. The Community Team already deletes, archives, and restricts access to certain threads, as well as anonymizing Community accounts of previous staff, both of which has caused problems for a number of posters. If they start removing older posts by all Community participants, the historical context of the Community will be denigrated.

@eleanor*rigby Have you tried turning off these settings?

That "block" would be of no use to me for this situation. I'm trying to eliminate receiving notifications at the notification bell in the upper righthand corner.
The screenshot you've posted is to block EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS for posts I'm @ mentioned in. I'm not asking how to block email notifications.

@eleanor*rigby unfortunately I dont see any other setting that would potentially turn off notifications in the bell/notifications page. I will reach out to the khoros team to see if there is a way for an individual users to change their notification bell settings.

If I were asked to vote I would vote against any programming that changes the current way @ mentioning is used on The Community. Some members rely on emails to know when they have been responded to and others, like myself, rely on the @ mention feature so that I KNOW when someone specifically wants me to see a reply.
On a few rare occasions, and I mean REALLY RARE occasions a member has asked not to be @ mentioned which to me seems somewhat strange. It would make absolutely no sense for members here to suddenly have to keep a list of certain members who only want to be communicated with in a specific manner or else risk being reported. And then of course you will have those situations where a member changes their ID after having asked someone NOT to @ mention them then do it again on the new ID ... resulting in another potential reporting situation.
It will be easier for the rare few (and again, the REALLY RARE few) to simply accept that they may be @ mentioned and deal with it.

Just try Nicole's solution to see if it works for you. As far as I know there is only 1 way to get @mentioned, so I think Nicole's solution will work for you.

@candd205 Another solution might be to get on the list of IDs that have the NO Notifications error (pic below) ... my account has had this all week on two different browsers ...it has been reported but it still persists ... I typically don't check threads or posts unless they appear on my Notification feed ... that's what its there for ...

Are you suggesting that adults act like adults? How dare you 😉
Best part is that no one is stalking OP check the message history. She doesn’t post - first post in a year is to complain about being stalked via @ mentions.
But, if OP is bothered by mentions, my advice would be to put a piece of electrical tape over where that red notification alert is on the computer’s monitor.

The OP may be participating in a private group(s), in which case their posts would not show up in the feed or message list. I would assume that the @ mentioning is happening in the private group(s).

Some are just ready to fly off the handle. I had a similar story with someone (I won’t say who :)) that sent five PMs after I one time @ mentioned her. She then publicly declared that I was stalking her. Some people love drama.

Please reread the posts in this thread.
I'm not looking for a way to stop receiving emails regarding @ mentions, which is what Nicole has posted. I blocked that ages ago. So, no, Nicole's suggestion will not work for me.
I have no idea what is meant by "As far as I know there is only 1 way to get @mentioned." Again, I'm not interested in how to @ mention or how to get @ mentioned.
