Mute a discussion here?

The option is available in the carat drop down to the right of the topic title but it's greyed out. 

Interestingly, I can mute myself though! Geesh.

It is greyed-out for me, too, but I never tried to use it, so no matter.  I use my Account Settings / Preferences for what notifications, etc., I receive.

I never use it, either. Mine isn't grayed out, though. Hmmmm.... 🤔

Okay. Maybe it's there for notifications or subscriptions only. Didn't think if that. I probably wrongly assumed it was to mute (or disappear) topics I read and don't need to see in the feed any longer. I get it's not reddit 🤭

Interesting, I can mute individual comments but I don't want to mute the person by accident if I click it. I don't know what it does!

@soh.maryl  So I clicked on Mute in your comment box and it muted you apparently but I can still see your comment. So that's very odd. I can then also UNMUTE you, and I did.

It's going to be greyed out if it's a thread you haven't participated in yet.

I assume it's supposed to mute notifications for the reply or thread. However I still get notifications when I used it so it probably doesn't even work as intended.

Hmm. These boards definitely need a revamp IMO. (did I really say that?)

But really, it's awkward to use, slow, and there's too much "air". Cut the white space!

At least for me on a desktop; can't speak to the app.

I don't see any white space. But that's because I have Dark Mode enabled.

I think the others are correct that the Mute option has to do with notifications. If you want to know for sure you can tag someone from the eBay team and ask.

Haha. I tried dark mode for 3 days but either the text was dirty grey or the dark was not dark enough (low contrast) and the squinting was making lines around my eyes. La Mer is good but it's not a miracle.😆
