How many 'Teams' are involved in ebay?

Does anybody know just how many teams are involved with the management, development, maintenance, research, running, etc., of ebay?  Is there a list of the various teams somewhere, available to the sellers/users?

Being able to suggest or request a member from a particular/specific team could be very helpful for the new monthly 'Team Chat'.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

We don't have a list to provide @gracieallen01. If you let us know what you'd like more information about though, sheila@ebay will be able to find who would be best to participate in a chat about it.

How many 'Teams' are involved in ebay?

Hello velvet@ebay ,

I wasn't looking for a list of people, just a list of what different teams there are.

Looking at a list, one might decide which is more appropriate for one's question(s), or voicing one's concern(s), rather than trying to, sometimes all too feebly, explain a problem or situation to another, for them to 'interpret' and then explain it to yet another.  One could pick a particularly appropriate team, rather than taking pot-luck of the draw and only perhaps getting the right team responding, if they are available.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

According to the announcement on the Weekly Chat thread:

"We’ll also let you know in advance what the topic will be about so you can come prepared."

I'm sure there'll be a list forthcoming of when each team will be featured in the Monthly Chat, right velvet@ebay? I would imagine the topics/teams have been set through at least the end of the year by now. I'd watch for an announcement of the schedule any time now, either on this board or perhaps the Weekly Chat board.

When you see that published, you could plan to attend the months you're interested in, depending on when the team you're interested in will be featured.

Actually, I was going according to the following paragraph of her response:

"This week we’d love to get your feedback as to who you’d like to see participate in the future. Do you have a program or process in particular you’d like to learn more about? Are you running into a lot of questions about a certain topic? Let us know so we can map out guided chats over the coming months that are going to be the most beneficial to you. If you have any other questions this week, please let us know by creating threads in the respected boards (i.e. Selling, Buying, etc.) making sure to tag us where necessary."

Not knowing what team(s) might be available would perhaps make it a bit difficult make a proper request to cover a particular subject.  I'm sure they have a team for everything, but occasionally the names of the teams are not immediately recognized as being synonymous with their function(s) or action(s).  (Especially for us older folk - the dinosaurs)

Gotcha. Totally understand and agree with your point.

Maybe when they publish the advance schedule of upcoming chats for the coming months, they'll add a little synopsis of what that particular team does, and you can judge from there. Think that would be possible, velvet@ebay?

Hmmmm, an 'advance' schedule, of upcoming chats for the coming months.  Now, that would be a novelty.

@gracieallen01   I suppose "Teams" is synonymous with "Departments" ...

I think they have around 43 offices around the world and over 16,000 employees ... only about 23 in the Corporate office ...

Those numbers might almost make one think that the teams are on the leaner side.  In the past, with things like the MP rollout, it seemed somewhat difficult to get a member participate in a chat, even at critical points.  I wonder how the teams will react to more mundane topics?  I'm also thinking this 'Team Chat' might be rather short lived.

@gracieallen01  If the Weekly Discussion is truly the link between Sellers and the various Teams then there needs to be a rep from each Team present every week ... we are only talking ONE HOUR out of their entire week ... sure each Team can spare someone for that small amount of time ...

Unfortunately, if I'm not mistaken, the 'Team Chat' is only going to be once a month, on the second Wednesday - no more weekly chat.

"This new guided chat format will occur every second Wednesday of the month (starting June 8th) and we’ll invite experts from various teams to participate. We’ll also let you know in advance what the topic will be about so you can come prepared."

As for a member from each team being available to answer questions, unless you look real good in dusky blue, I wouldn't hold your breath.  They are going to invite 'experts' from various teams for a themed 1 hr. chat that looks to be a single topic per month, so ..... .

The title of the thread that was posted for the slot on Wed. the 18th is:

"Weekly chat transitioning to a monthly themed chat"

I see what you mean @gracieallen01 but we have 'buckets' internally, similar to what you see on the boards (Selling, Buying, Shipping, etc.). When a member asks for clarification, says something isn't working right, etc. we reach out to a main contact and they take it from there; assigning it to whomever they feel best to handle it.

There's no reason for you to worry about the various teams in eBay. Just post your question or concern in the best fitting board and then tag us and we'll reach out to the relevant team. As for the new monthly chat format, we're just taking suggestions as to what everyone wants to learn more about and then Sheila will find the best fitting person to facilitate the chat.

@pburn and @gracieallen01 you are both right. We have some planned but our main goal is to provide you the help you want and need, which is why we requested your feedback. We want to ensure the chats are going to be beneficial to as many people as possible.

Have you received a lot of good feedback from former Weekly Chat participants? Is there a thread that's been started and pinned for members to submit their ideas? I generally stick to this board and the Selling board, so maybe I'm just missing how/where to make a suggestion.
