Chrome issue - community

I have to post this using Safari because in Chrome, the reply box is grayed out.

It doesn't matter if I try to "reply" to a post from a previous poster or if I just type into the reply box. Even when I start typing, it's still grayed out and I cannot post.

Again, it's only on Chrome.

@albertabrightalberta

Is it still doing it?

I'm on Chrome and it seems fine for me.

Did you sign out & clear your history yet?

Close & reopen your browser?

Those are the first things I would try.

Next would be restarting my computer.

@pikabo-icu @biggymoe

Are you using "reply" or "quick reply"? It looks like @albertabrightalberta 's screenshot is for "quick reply."

Using Reply, not familiar with Quick Reply.

@wastingtime101

Both are fine.

Quick reply is grey until I begin typing.

Re: Chrome issue - community

I'm using Chrome as well, no problems here.  What version of Chrome are you using, and on what OS, out of curiosity?

Re: Chrome issue - community

If you don't see quick reply, you can turn it on/off in your settings on this page. I have quick reply turned OFF which used  to hide it from my view, but something changed a while ago because I can still see it even with the setting turned off. I think the setting to turn it off is broken and being ignored (FYI devon@ebay ). Although when I click to start typing it expands a full reply box so maybe it's an intentional change? I liked it better when it was hidden entirely.

Quick replies do not show "in response to" in the post header because you're not replying to a specific post, just replying to the thread (OP, essentially).

It happens whether I use reply (in response to someone's post) or quick reply at the bottom of the page.

It's been several hours and it's still happening so I'll shut down and restart and see if that helps.

Re: Chrome issue - community

Sheesh! I should have done this hours ago.

Restarting seems to have been the fix.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Re: Chrome issue - community

😂turning it off and on again is the "go to" first step for a reason.

Glad that worked.
