what would you do if the USPS closes down?

24 hours ago I would have said, "huh, couldn't happen" but now who knows? If the authorities think the virus could live on the mail?

For myself I always have a backlog of listing and inventory work that doesn't get done. But that would last at the outside a few or several days depending on how long I quake under the bedsheets. Always work in the garden though. Plus books to read. I have at least 100 of those.

My son (restaurant worker) just had his hours cut way back, so for him that means playing even more Pokemon Go unless they want everyone to go into quaranteen.

I've already stopped shipping, period. I don't want to make unnecessary trips anywhere, and I live in a place that makes it hard to use the USPS pickup service without allowing face-to-face contact.

If you depend on eBay for a living, of course, that isn't practical.

Why did the doctors tell you to do that?

Maybe I'm awful but I'm just not curtailing my usual activities though of course the seasonal booksales are now dead.  I saw my elderly neighbor yesterday and thought to myself "wait a minute!" I stayed in the car but handed her a slip of paper with my phone number. She says she has a good support network but I said if she needs anything to call.  She should maybe stop going places and being around people.

"What would you do if the USPS closes down?"

1)  Keep reminding myself that closed,  means closed.   Why worry about not shipping something

if the buyer can't and won't receive it anyway?

2)   Take a nap

3)  Start watching Breaking bad from the beginning.    Have never watched all of it.

I have repertory issues and a compromised immune system due to chemotherapy, among other issues. Mix that with my age (I will only admit to "somewhere between forty and death", to paraphrase Jerry Herman), and I am prime candidate number one.....................

I'd just shut down and go on a bike tour and potter around the countryside.  I could see about delivering for Deliveroo or DoorDash since take-away/delivery is booming and I have a trailer on my bike and a pair of strong lungs, but I think I'd rather potter.

Clean out the basement.

I'm in one of the epicenters so not a lot has been moving for a while.

I am sorry to hear about your chemo. Do you have a support system of people who will shop for you?

I've seen postal employees wearing gloves for weeks now. I highly doubt they'd shut down. They may cut back hours or days of service, but shutting down mail service entirely would really hurt the economy and place a hardship on people or even their lives at risk. Many people receive their prescriptions via the mail, checks and other necessities. Some even still pay bills via mail!

At my local post office yesterday the overwhelming smell of chemicals smacked me when I opened the door. They are doing their part to disinfect, that's for sure. They also installed Purell dispensers on the wall near the door. The employees were all wearing gloves.

This is the message USPS put out today through the informed delivery digest:

Not only that - I have speling issues and maybe, only possibly, probably some indecisiveness. Fortunately, my sense of humor is strong and improving every day I exist in this laughfest of a world.............................and I still hate liver and onions................................
