Can I receive payment for an item to a PayPal account not linked to my eBay account?

Hi,

I was wondering if I could manually change the email address in my listings to receive payment in a PayPal account that is not linked to my eBay account.

I am selling items on eBay for someone else, and it is getting tiresome constantly having to log into PayPal to get her the funds. But, I make my own purchases on eBay with my PayPal account, so that is the one that is linked.

If I change the PayPal account email address when I list the items, will the payment automatically go to the other person's email, or do I need to keep accepting the payments and then sending them to her from PayPal?

Yes, you can, but selling items for other people is such a bad idea on so many levels.

What happens when you sell something for her, she takes out the money from the sale, and 5-1/2 months later, the buyer files for a refund through PayPal. If her PayPal account doesn't have the money in it to cover the refund, what happens to your eBay account? If I were going to do that for someone else, I'd keep the funds in a separate account somewhere and not release it to the other person until 180 days have passed.

How will you handle the income tax issues at the end of the year?

I mean, there are just so many ways this arrangement could go south, I can't even count them all.

Yes you can.

But your fees, and shipping labels will pull from the one you have linked to eBay.

I have 2 PayPal accounts.... One for regular payments, and one for Micro Payments... Once I month I send the fees and shipping costs back into the main account.

If you are selling for another person (perfectly fine I do it myself)  remember that eBay's MBG is 30 days from delivery, and Paypal's is 6 months.  You need to have something worked out between the two of you of what happens if there is an issue after you have transferred the money to her.

And I would only transfer the money to her monthly, and explain why to her.
