I posted items with links to pin interest, Facebook, twitter, and there used to be an increase in traffic. Now it shows nothing and sales reflect this. What is going on with traffic to listings?

Something huge changed in may, Its widely talked about. HUGE sales slumps, NO views, No traffic, To normal everyday sellers that have been here for years. Something is wrong, and something is hugely broken. Sales still trickle in, but nothing like they were before all of these horrible category changes they keep making.. It seems with every update they just break something even further. I hope something soon changes with the promoted algorithm, as i have a feeling that this is the major problem for everyone.

Ebay quite some time ago filtered out social media page views because many are bots, not real people. Ebay also quite some time ago deleted all our item specific and started making demands that we had to fill out certain item specifics. What they were telling us is that we are on our own and would solely be responsible for SEO(search engine optimization). Recently site advertising minimum went from 1%-2%. Of course years ago they blatantly told us they wouldn't always show our items. So where are our views? The Twilight Zone.

I know I don't have many items for sale and that's part of the problem but this chart it telling. At the beginning of the month I remember I turned off advertising. The past few days I've lowered it to 2%. The part in the middle I was advertising 2%+ suggested. Ebay clearly wants us to pay at least 25% in fees, not including shipping.

The 'REAL' reason that views have changed is because 'bot' views are no longer counted.
Only real people.
So, that is the REAL number of REAL people that have been viewing your listings...whether you bring them in from the outside or not.
If there is a 'down turn' in sales; there are many reasons that have nothing to do with the site. Your item (what it is, how 'wanted is it NOW', price etc.) as well as economy.
Bed Bath Beyond was 'it on a stick 10 years ago; dropped 30% a month ago, and another 25% today. Shopping habits and items wanted change. The 18-49 demographic has changed.
But, overall, there are 100's of threads started about Down Sales for the past decade. There's one on top of the 'community' from 2015. Nothing New. Much more competition and much less people 'collecting' things.
Sales of items eb/flo and always have.

You are correct. So prices need to go up. These buyers that we are constantly servicing need to pay more to have their items brought to their doorstep. If they want to complain and leave negative feedbacks while they sit home and spend nothing on gas, well then, they should pay for my gas and UPS's gas, and FedEx's gas, and USPS's gas and eBay's fees and ad fees and shipping supply costs.

Good luck with that. I try to avoid negative. I tried to offer smaller lighter items but it's hard. I have no capital to create a lot of items to negate the need for advertising or cheap pricing. I also can't offer local pickup really, people are generally too afraid to come to my city(crime). Maybe if you're offering things people need but most things are not needed. There's also back to school shopping going on. Most of my items are Halloween related. I could change my titles but ebay would just flag me for suggesting one of my skeletons would be a good iphone holder 😄

ebay has been dead all week, and all last weekend when weekends are usually the best and busiest. This has been reported over and over, ebay even told us they are getting a lot of complaints about the same issue. Yet other platforms are flourishing fine.
No matter what scenario one believes, they have done something on here that has ruined sales for so many.
On top of that, the few that do place an order then open a case wanting to cancel, this is becoming a problem as well, its been nothing but a loss,. yet the other sites are bringing in orders like a waterfall. That tells me something is wrong with ebay and or search engines outside of it no longer picking up ebay items. So ebay admits to many complaining, but of course they are doing nothing.. Whatever that awful change was back in May looks to be permanent. Just wait till September 20th when they make category changes, probably will be worse. Worst part of that is those changes can bring more fees, and they will just take what they want with no notification or warning, which is nothing but a desperate attempt to take even more of sellers money, its getting so bad.

Has anybody seen a commercial on television advertising ebay lately? Aside from the commercials they may say that the traffic from pin interest, twitter and Facebook was bots and now its more accurately reflected, but apparently the bots spent more!:))

Traffic broke up about 50 years ago when Steve Winwood left to form Blind Faith with Eric Clapton.

Jimmy page wanted him for his new group and was offered a sledgehammer manicure from Winwood's "people" if he persisted. He also courted Terry Reed but he had other things to do so he settle for Robert Plant.

Here in the DFW Metroplex, this summer eBay has been running radio spots for eBay Motors, promoting vehicle parts and accessories. Other than that, have not heard or seen any ads in a long while.

Bring back the bots. They are better spenders!:))
