What do you think about the new messaging system? I prefer the classic one

Re: updated messaging

I think it's different than the classic one.  Other than that, it's still mostly irrelevant messages.

Re: updated messaging

Hate the preview page, we all in our family never use it.

Hate the small little box I get to type in not letter style.

Hate that my reply sits on the screen in a bubble.

Really hate that bird in the box! LOL

Re: updated messaging

I agree. The new one is crap for the reasons mentioned often above. Give us the option for the old one please.

Re: updated messaging

Re: updated messaging

I opted out and now have it by default. Called CS they said no way to opt out anymore. I HATE IT. Everything is too small due to the split page.  It is nonsensical why they would do this, it's especially difficult with best offers. Even though I do not have to wear readers as my close up vision is 100%, I will have to get readers to see if I can deal with this better.  Also when I respond to offers and accept them, people are then not paying for the items, probably because they can't read the durn things either..I HATE IT.

chevymotecarlo88...Your post is the first I have seen that likes it. And to each his own. I think the majority of us would have at lease appreciated the opportunity to switch. So for you you would have. For many others, including myself, thanks but I'll take the old messaging. I gues this is why baskins has 31 flavors, right?

Re: updated messaging

I couldn't agree more!

AGAIN, I HATE IT! It's NOT user friendly and it no longer offers full-screen like the CLASSIC VERSION when sending a message. You are relegated to a small box in the right-hand corner. Like a CHAT BOX! You also can no longer upload 10-photos when creating a new message.

ARE YOU LISTENING EBAY?!  I wonder why not one so-called eBay moderator has chimed in?

PLEASE EBAY, TRASH THIS NEW VERSION or ADD THE OPTION TO USE THE OLD CLASSIC VERSION.

Re: updated messaging

EBAY... TURN YOUR EARS ON! AND YOUR EYES TOO!! THE NEW MESSAGING IS YOUR BIGGEST BLUNDER TO DATE!!! IT PROBABLY WAS DEVELOPED BY SOMEONE IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY WHO SPENDS MOST OF THEIR TIME IN A CHAT ROOM!!

FIX THIS!!!!!

Re: updated messaging

that's exactly what it is like, but one of the many problems I have had in dealing with this is that I can't go back up into the "chat" and see what was said previously and this gets really screwed up when you have multiple conversations going on with multiple people about the same item over a period of time and you have no idea which is which...this is so screwed up...I wish more people were complaining about this, hope against hope they will change it back or at least make it usable...

Re: updated messaging

I can tell you EXACTLY why eBay did this - and they're not the only one to do it either. Etsy and others have as well. It is because it apes a smartphone texting screen. For some reason, these people seem to think that I want a smartphone experience on my desktop - the stupid thing is sized and shaped just like a smartphone and ignores the rest of my  THREE HUGE SCREENS to give me a crippled smartphone experience. The entire world is being dumbed down to the smartphone level and the rest of us have to pay the price. I can certainly rant all day about the huge societal costs of catering to the smartphone, but I'll spare everyone.

Now if they'd just fix their horrid search, but that's another topic...

The question was not about the roll out of the new messaging system. The new system has the feel of what i am familiar with. Obviously, it needs to work as intended but the look is what i like about it.

Re: updated messaging

Found a way around it, seems that ebay sends your actions to your email address, if yours is like mine I can answer the newest customers questions and message through there as well as create the folders that ebay wiped out, the folders held various important information that needed saved, as well as creating new folders as needed...can't do it on ebay now, but can do it on my email addy, while not everyone may use their email addy, bypassing the mess, at least I can still be able to keep things organized...and provide good customer service.
