Ebay never fails to amaze me how they will do anything to profit from the sellers. We pay outrageous fees and buyers pay outrageous fees, particularly if they are international buyers. Now ebay wants us on their behalf to complain to the government about the taxes. Seriously, spare me. We should all be willing to pay what we owe (INCLUDING EBAY) and not whine about it. Taxes are there for a reason but if there is something to raise a stink about, it's ebay fees period. Ebay was a great place 15 to 20 years ago but it has really turned into a place that buyers and sellers are drifting from and even if it manages on staying around, it won't be a place well liked. Send those complaints in to ebay not your government.

You need to read that message again. It's not about paying taxes or not paying taxes. The
message regards the dollar amount that generates a 1099 form.

Buyers pay outrageous fees? Uh.....what?

You seem to not get it here? It is exactly about paying taxes. They would prefer that there not be any dollar figure that generates a 1099. Why does that seem to make a difference whether it's the $600.00 that it is now or probably the 10,000 they would like? Come on get real here. You must work for ebay if you don't see through this request.

As a buyer I've NEVER paid a fee to eBay....

Purchase fee to seller? I have paid those. Usually approximating the cost of item and an additional fee for shipping, if applicable.

I admit I did have to read that twice before I got it, but I got it....😁

How original. Same song, different day.

That's me, eBay employee. Now I'm off to fix that thing where buyers can't ask for an invoice
for the items they put in their cart.
Busy, Busy, Busy.....

LOL!!! That cliche is so old on the boards its got whiskers!

I think Ebay needs to open up two separate boards. One for 'paying new taxes', and one for 'paying fees on buyers sale tax is not legal'. That would unclutter the Sellers board a lot.

Good idea.
#3 Buyer can't pay.

Has nothing to do with 'helping them'.
It's all about helping yourself.
Do you really think the FVF's won't go up to cover the cost associated with having to make/submit 10x more the amount of 1099s than they had to last year?

Believe it or not, you do. A seller prices based on all of their costs AND the profit they want to make. So, like hidden taxes on everything we buy, buyers ARE paying fees. Just like a buyer pays for shipping on items that "ship for free".
Doesn't matter how you want to paint it, buyers ARE paying the fees. They just don't see them itemized when you pay.

LOL. As if fees don't go up at least once a year NOW? You aren't helping anyone. eBay couldn't give a flip about ANY seller here.
