So if I do not use photobucket or any other kind of HTML in the description box of my listings I should be fine and buyers will not see a warning on chrome?
HTML is not an issue. Links are an issue. If your descriptions are just basic text with no outside links added you should be fine. Run a listing or 2 through the tester, see what it shows you.

@d-k_treasures, thanks - yes, that is where I clicked the word Bookmark on the post I was reading. I just wasn't sure where to find the post I Bookmarked after that. When I went back to the instructions provided upthread, and located the Bookmarks in my profile>settings >whatever -- and saw the listing had been Bookmarked at the top (one of several I guess I Bookmarked), and clicked that - it took me to (I think) the beginning of this thread. I was hoping it would have taken me to the post with the link inside to the eBay i-ways bulkchecker -- but I wound up putting that link in my !!CHROME!! browser bookmark. lol

@bubbleman2010, are you serious or joking? I use Chrome. Share my eBay ID AND PASSWORD?
<fainting>
Looks like I won't be listing anything on eBay any more. :(((((
Is this just with eBay or is it with other venues as well?
You don't need to share your ID and password with a company in Germany in order to sell on eBay. The only thing you would need to share your ID and password with this 3rd party is if you want to run the test to see if your listings are compliant with the new security policy. That is, it will identify if your listings have non-secure http: links.
Again - why would they need your password?

That's for browser bookmarks, I was giving the info for Bookmarks here on the board..
Oh my, I'm lost now, I'm not sure which one Rainbow was asking about. LOL
@pikabo-icu, lol --- I bookmarked a POST in this thread, that had the link to the i-ways bulkchecker. Not a problem though - I got it saved. Thanks very much.

Oh - I never even knew there was a bookmarks spot here on the boards - not that I would use it ....
I found this:
How do I find "My Bookmarks" on the eBay Community?merchant-virtuoso, asksFebruary 18, 2017I saw a page withing the ebay community I wish to come back later and review. At the top left of the post there are 3 dots side by side. I clicked it and was presented with options. I selected "Bookmark" and a dialogue popped up that stated I had successfully bookmarked it. Now I am curious how do I review "My bookmarks"? I just don't know where the button is.
Note: I did not subscribe to it, as I do not wish to do this. Further, this bookmark is within "The eBay Community" it is not a bookmarked item.
Thanks in advance!
*too*cheap* replied:February 18, 2017eBay likes to hide everything and I can't find a direct link but you can either click on the 3 bars (upper left) or click on the dropdown arrow next to your User ID,
then click on "My Subscriptions" where you can then find the Bookmarks link.
@pingpong517, At the TOP LEFT of someone's post they saw three dots? I see the three dots on the TOP RIGHT side of the post. lol

gracie their check one item system has been on ebay for well over a year and now all of a sudden they are rushing to market something better than sliced bread that will improve your visibilty and increase sales. I just look at them as another freeloader promising everything and delivering nothing.

@muttlymob, thank you for the info but for some reason I'm still afraid to do that - at this time.
BTW, I never have any links to anything in my listings. EVER. The only links there may/might be in MY listings are the ones eBay puts there for my buyers to see they can get whatever they bought from me, cheaper.
08-23-2017 05:19 PM
Again - why would they need your password?
IMO they shouldn't need it. If they can test one listing at a time without a password, they can check them all.

I'm just wondering what else ebay 'partnered' with them for, such as what are they going to do with the data once they have screened it? That is going to be one heck of A LOT of data to waste, isn't it?
And, the ebay UA says they can share anything - intellectual property and all - with partnered and third parties. Oh well. Maybe it will just be a boost to AI or something.

My response was poorly worded. You only need to enter your ID and password if you want all your listings checked at once. You can test one listing at a time (any listing, not just your own) by entering the item number without logging in.

believe most of the text on peoples listings are already https, it looks like when people use videos and other fancy stuff in their listings that these may not be compliant and need fixing. Not completely sure. Yeah I was going to use the tool from the website but whe they asked for my password I hit the back button.
08-23-2017 05:27 PM
Of course, they quite probably, would need the password, as well as the user name if they were going to use the data for 'something' to prove that it was legitimately obtained and not their responsibility if something is wrong with it.
