Re: stronger browser security...

Thanks for the note. Yes, our plan is to fix these before the deadline.

Also, the sign-in is a common token that we use with third-party providers. You actually sign in to

eBay and we don't share your password with the third party.

That's for browser bookmarks, I was giving the info for Bookmarks here on the board..

Oh my, I'm lost now, I'm not sure which one Rainbow was asking about. LOL

Oh - I never even knew there was a bookmarks spot here on the boards - not that I would use it ....

I found this:

How do I find "My Bookmarks" on the eBay Community?

I saw a page withing the ebay community I wish to come back later and review. At the top left of the post there are 3 dots side by side. I clicked it and was presented with options. I selected "Bookmark" and a dialogue popped up that stated I had successfully bookmarked it. Now I am curious how do I review "My bookmarks"? I just don't know where the button is.

Note: I did not subscribe to it, as I do not wish to do this. Further, this bookmark is within "The eBay Community" it is not a bookmarked item.

Thanks in advance! Smiley Happy

eBay likes to hide everything and I can't find a direct link but you can either click on the 3 bars (upper left) or click on the dropdown arrow next to your User ID,

then click on "My Subscriptions" where you can then find the Bookmarks link.

Gee - I can't imagine why anyone would have problems finding that .... Smiley Frustrated

This will give any buyer using Chrome a warning of an NON SECURE page..

That is distressing to many people. It's for the use of HTML coding.

So in the post by Sweet Tea or the link here: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/Stronger-Browser-Security-Standards-Ahead/ba-p/27389922

There's a program/link to test your listings..

If they have HTML, you can edit it out and your buyers will not see the warning on Chrome..

So I'm guessing you are giving that company the same permission to access your listings/account that you do with a third party listing service? Because when I tried it they wanted my User ID and password to eBay.

Thanks for your comment. We partnered with i-ways to help identify listings that contain HTTP content. We asked them to use a sign-in token to ensure that your full listing compliance report was not public to anyone else. You can view single item IDs without signing in, but if you want to see your entire list of inventory, it requires a sign in. Thanks!

So why would they need the ebay login/password?

it downloads all your listing at once, then checks them..give you a report...showing any issues....

Again - why would they need your ebay PASSWORD?

This is just not right. I don't give out my password, and won't just because eBay says I should. Think it may be time for this gal to look for another venue. I wish eBay would quit messing around and implementing things we don't want. *SIGH*

We asked i-ways to implement an eBay token which is common with third-party providers. We wanted you as a seller to be able to see your entire inventory, but we didn't want other sellers to have access to it. Our decision was to put your full inventory list behind the eBay token (sign-in), but still allow single item access without it. You are actually putting your information into eBay and we are not sharing it with i-ways. Thanks!

You mean fix the ebay links showing up?  I'm sure it will be 'soon' before the deadline.

And sorry, the 3rd party can pull in a sellers listings by seller - no need for a password - even if I did believe that you don't share it.

In a nutshell since over half the ebay buyers use Chrome as a browser ( according to ebay ) if you don't register with a company in Germany and share your ID and password with them so they can check your listings your sales might decrease due to buyers thinking your listing are unsecure.....

@bubbleman2010, are you serious or joking?  I use Chrome.   Share my eBay ID AND PASSWORD?

<fainting>

Looks like I won't be listing anything on eBay any more.   :(((((

Is this just with eBay or is it with other venues as well?

You don't need to share your ID and password with a company in Germany in order to sell on eBay.  The only thing you would need to share your ID and password with this 3rd party is if you want to run the test to see if your listings are compliant with the new security policy.  That is, it will identify if your listings have non-secure http: links.

Re: stronger browser security...

If anyone is concerned about allowing them access to your ID and password just review their legal terms......... OOOOOOPSY!!!! I forgot they are in Germany and don't have to display their legal terms to anyone.......

Re: stronger browser security...

Why can't they just show some examples of what a HTTP listing that will be an issue looks like!

One example from my own listings:  I embed photos in my description that are hosted by photobucket.  The link to the photo starts like this:  http://img.photobucket......

Those links will soon bring up the not secure warning for users on Chrome, and reduce my description to a snippet and a button to view full description instead of the actual description.

There's absolutely no way I feel comfortable giving my user ID and password to some third party company.

As has already been stated multiple times in this thread, if you search by individual item numbers in that tool there is no need to sign in with your ID and password.  May take longer, but does not require giving out any account info.

Re: stronger browser security...

Log In Info-  It's exactly the same as using Auctiva or any other third party listing host etc..

YOU use the info to log into eBay- you aren't giving them anything..

That said @  I am getting dinged for eBay photos and that dang Auctiva Gallery.

I go to Auctiva and they say they ARE compliant. They fixed their HTML compliance or so they claim.

So are they and this needs fixed by eBay Tech, I-ways or whomever?

OR

They are NOT and it needs to be removed.

Please update with what's going on there.. Thanks

So if I do not use photobucket or any other kind of HTML in the description box of my listings I should be fine and buyers will not see a warning on chrome?

Bman,

It does seem to be the way of the world, but I don't think I can throw that company too far, so I guess I won't put much (or any) trust in them -  especially not with that set of claims.

You can do a one-item check without giving them your ebay ID and password. I checked one of mine and only thing that failed was the ebaythumbs so I guess ebay will be fixing those before they are necessary? LOL

Here's hoping.

I don't know why that tool went live before/without exempting their OWN thumbnails..

Did nobody test the thing? Sheesh.
