You need to disable the out of stock setting in your site preferences.

Now if I do that it will be site wide ?? All my items would cancel when there are no more ?? Because that wont work. I need GTC on some of my items that I have many of. I want to just end SOME ?? How do i do that ?? Thanks

GTC is a listing duration. Out of stock is a listing setting - there's a difference
All of your fixed price listings will be GTC. Disabling the out of stock setting will end all listings with a quantity of zero. You cannot use the out of stock setting on some listings and disable it on others.
If you need to use the out of stock setting keeping some inventory active after it reaches zero so you can restock, then the setting will apply to all listings. If you don't want to manually end out of stock listings you can leave them active and after 3 consecutive billing cycles with a zero quantity they will be ended by eBay. During those 3 months the listings will still utilize your free insertions, or you will be charged if you don't have any free listings left. You can save some time by ending listings in bulk.
Those are the choices. Many sellers want out of stock availability at the listing level, but currently it is only an option at the account level.
If that's not the answer you were hoping to hear it won't help to take your frustration out on posters here trying to help. We are just as unhappy about many of the rules as you are.

If you use the OOS option on some items, your only other choice is to end the other items once they sell out.
I have a few items I need the OOS option, the rest, I either end once they sell or let them run until Ebay ends them once they've been out of stock for awhile.

I do understand what you both are saying and thanks. It just sucks because again it has to go through 3 billing cycles I see just another trick to suck more money out of us if they can. Its like every day I see the new ways ebay screws us more and more. Its not bad enough that ebay shoves GTC down our throats even though Most of the community dont want it now their sucking us for MORE MONEY as ALWAYS. I hope you choke on every dime ebay.

If it's a single item that you won't be replenishing, just end the listing once it's sold.
It doesn't affect your account to end the listing.

There is NO penalty to end the listings that you do not want to be held for OOS. NONE. And there NEVER has been. You can end a GTC listings anytime you want for whatever reason you may have and it will NOT get a penalty.
The OOS function on inventory is a fantastic tool for many sellers. And for others it isn't a tool they will find useful. Ebay isn't doing anything wrong here nor are they trying to screw you in any way. You simply misunderstand the process. No big deal as you have gotten some great information from a couple of other very good posters.
You'll be just fine. Just end whatever listings you need to end and move forward.

I hope you were actually talking about the phone in ebay reps and not the knowledgeable unpaid volunteers on this board that gave you the answers to your problem.

It's not a good idea to start out by insulting the group from whom you are seeking advice.
I understand you're frustrated, but your frustration has nothing to do with this group.
Let me explain further: When you come here asking for help or advice, you are addressing a very large group of experienced buyers and sellers who volunteer our time here to help when we can.
We aren't "ebay planted scripted robots".

I don't see it ever having a penalty the only option being GTC the listings have to be ended manually in order to end them. A penalty for something that that is the only option wouldn't make any sense and likely violate some contract laws

You've been here long enough to know better.
Why else would it be a global setting for all GTC listings that are/have never been multi-quantity?

Sure I've been here long enough to know that yes eBay has implemented some dumb policies. But there ha never been any policies where there is only one way to do something (that's allowed) and then you get a penalty for that In a contract that would be unconscionable and thus unenforceable under contract law

Thanks but Your not up to date on things I see. Oh yes ebay did. If you ended a more than 1 listing early in a month they had a pop up that said .... You already ended an item early this month ending anymore could hurt your seller rating or even be charged a fee. Please dont tell me Im wrong I had it happen many times. Im guessing thats NOT in place any more. But this is what ebay says about ending listings early. ......
When you can cancel a listing
If you cancel a listing, it risks disappointing potential buyers, so we strongly discourage all our sellers from doing so. However, we understand that there are times when a cancellation might be necessary. Some valid reasons include:
So how hypocritical is it to say dont do it when THEY ARE THE ONES MAKING US DO IT by forcing GTC on us.
