Re: selling

You can cancel after 4 days - buyer has not paid.

You can relist the item, they get a strike.

Theres no way to force a buyer to pay. Move on.

@bigdeals.etc

Four calendar days. Here's the eBay help page that explains the recently adopted unpaid item cancellation process. You could bookmark it for future reference.

Re: selling

I'm in the camp that would cancel the order on day 5, if still unpaid. It will free up your FVFs and will free you up to relist.

The buyer deadbeat would incur an Unpaid Item Strike, and two of those will hinder their buying abilities. It's the best protection for all us sellers in the long run.

For what it's worth, I find that if an item sells once, it will again. Good luck to you for the right buyer.

Re: selling

I was asking the OP how many days has it been as I’ve realized in eBay “a long time” is subjective.

Re: selling

I have a closely related issue.  My high bidder, brand new on eBay with no feedback, didn’t pay.  So I canceled their offer after 4 days, and chose “yes” when eBay asked if I wanted it relisted.  I’ve only sold a few times and this never happened before.  Then I quickly learned about second chance offers and sent one to the next highest bidder, not realizing I’d have to pay eBay for ending the relisting if it received any bids.  Sure enough it did.  I’m only out about $7, but it seems unfair for eBay to offer both relisting and second chance offers without making it clear you can’t choose both (or preventing it from happening).

Re: selling

You say you cancelled their offer.  You mean you cancelled their winning, right?

You can't choose to relist AND to give a second chance offer to someone who already bid.  It's counter-productive.  Think about it.

Re: selling

Yes this happens a lot to all ebay sellers.  Just relist and move on.  Be sure to put them on your blocked buyer list.

Re: selling

The button I pressed was “cancel offer. ” But practically speaking, that canceled their winning.  Is there another way to cancel their winning?  My second chance offer went to the NEXT highest bidder (a longtime ebayer with lots of positive feedback).  And yes, I blocked the ghost buyer.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  In my opinion eBay has become too complicated for casual sellers.  I’ll think harder about using something else (Craigslist?) in the future.

@umpra-218

How are you planning on making any money selling at those prices?

Have a great day.
