Seller beware.
I have sold a Snap On scanner. He has promptly asked for a return with the infamous excuse INAD ( item not as described ). I have refunded the item per eBay's instruction as well as a prepaid return label. He has refuse to return the fully refunded item and will not respond to my messages.
I have researched his profile and he has purchased sport memorabilia like baseball cards, etc. This transaction with me is the 1st time he ventured into automobile merchandises. I have reported to eBay repeatedly and only received their garden variety song and dance reply without any solid commitment to help with a charge back to compensate my financial loss.

"per eBay's instructions as well as a prepaid return label"....is what I see....but item not returned.
Wouldn't it be nice to actually know if you still sell or buy still on eBay to answer such questions....
I questioned the buyer's dispute with their credit card..."charge back".

I am curious about this statement
"I have refunded the item per eBay's instruction"
There are a few pieces missing to your post. Where exactly did you get those "instructions"? Is this an eBay case or is it a CC chargeback? Did the buyer open an eBay case and then a chargeback? Sad to say but with a chargeback you are unlikely to get the item back and usually there is no return label issued

Never refund before you get an item back. Nobody does that even online.

From the original post I got the impression OP wanted to do a chargeback to dispute the funds that ebay pulled to refund the buyer. He did say "a charge back to compensate my financial loss." Of course that would be a chargeback against ebay and definitely not a good idea. Maybe I'm the only one who read it that way.

I don't buy much on eBay, just a few times a year (more than I buy from AMZ). As a seller it's been continuous since 1999. Volume is pretty modest these days, low 5 figures (very low).

Good catch and very possible after I read the OP a couple more times. OP was a bit vague in some details but that could be exactly what they did but since OP has never returned, which happens a LOT, not much additional I can come up with regarding the series of events.

No scam here.. the buyer got what you sent and since you don't "offer" returns, they used INAD to return.
Since you refunded before the item was sent back, you told the buyer to keep the scanner with your compliments

Most of us have made mistakes. The best thing for me was finding this board and asking the helpful volunteers for help when I wasn't sure what to do. Even when I read the ebay rules I'm often not clear, but folks here have never let me down.
