The "See full item description" button is one of the worst ideas eBay has ever implemented. I am a top rated seller and have been ever since the program was introduced. Part of what makes me a top rated seller is my big, beautiful pictures and my complete descriptions of what is included and what the condition of the item is. Now all of that is hidden and prospective buyers need to click another button to see the full description. I would be willing to bet that that button does not get clicked by over half the people that view the listing and that most of those that do not click it either do not see it or have no idea what it is for. I would also not be at all surprised if eBay sees a sharp increase in the number of item not as received cases because you are hiding the seller’s description of that item from prospective buyers. Let’s just put it in terms that management should be paying attention to: more item not as described cases means more man hours devoted to resolving these cases which in turn leads to more labor cost for eBay. Further, an increased number of item not as received cases leads to an increased number of buyers who had a bad experience on eBay and are therefore less likely to return to eBay. Less traffic leads to fewer bids which leads to lower final sales prices which leads to lower revenue for eBay from final value fees. So by hiding seller’s descriptions of the item they are selling from prospective buyers eBay is effectively raising the company's overall operating cost while lowering overall revenue.
Sellers please take a few minutes to let eBay know that you think this is a really bad idea and that it should be done away with. To by-pass all the misleading "Contact Us" links and send your message to someone who will actually read it please copy and paste the following into your browser's address window:

I was overjoyed to see my listings returned to normal last night!
Now that that's resolved (at least for now), any input on Photobucket now wanting $400.00 a year to host photos posted to third party sites, like ebay?

I am cluesless as to how many on this thread has noticed, including "the blues" but... I posted this yesterday...
Yes!!!! My listings seem to be normal again, both my view and when I open other listings to purchase. Thanks a million @Anonymous for fixing it!!!
And, I wish the "tell us what you think" link worked - I've been telling eBay every since the UPC thing started that there are major inconsistencies - but have been ignored. And, like the reporting drop down about violations in listings - where buying insurance, duplicate listings, picture violations, plagiarisms, choice and lottery listings, etc. are also being ignored. So please pardon me if I have lost faith on these options as no one seems to care, so I have stopped trying to use these "tools".
Also there are still major issues with the bulk editor which have been reported (by me and others). I am not alone in these frustrations. It would be wonderful if eBay would concentrate on fixing what is already wrong first, before creating more hassles and hoops for we sellers who are trying to play by the book (where the rules often seem to change by the hour). Without happy sellers, there can not be happy buyers. Without happy buyers, eBay could be facing bankruptcy. I can't fanthom anyone wanting this to happen.
We all (eBay, sellers and buyers) want the same thing ultimately - a strong, fun, unique selling platform that we can be proud of which turns a profit. Together, we can achieve this goal. At least I'd like to believe so.

Back today to say glad to see that ending the "see full item description" button" issue was resolved. No extra effort to find further description for items is quite a time saver. PLUS (caps for emphasis) I went to nc-daydreamer site to glance at 33 1/3 records, CD's and was astonished at the descriptions for records was sooooo improved. It was eye boggling for each item; i.e, I was mezmerized at the presentation for each used record. WOW! Also, nc-daydreamer made it easier to access to change preferences (public, private) while you were right on site (or item collection) without having to go to main listings and go through them to find seller or interest. Very, very creative and time saving. Go nc-daydreamer. "Music makes me smile: (on my back license plate). Hmmmm. Favorite seller for me!

Is there a opt-out or something that I need to trigger? I'm still looking at these "See Full Item Description" buttons on all my listings.

Not sure, I think I've removed it. I don't understand why they do this every few months.

I did this and it worked, but only for the computer I removed the cookies from. My other computers and, my buyers computers still see the description button.
THIS SUCKS!!!

The major problems I have with this new "feature"... 1. my store heading, side panel categories and store search box are all gone. That was part of why I signed up for a store subscription... so I feel kind of cheated that that has now been taken away with no "opt out" option on my end and no notification as to a change in the contract. ... 2. The weird, random text grab that they choose to put in the visible "Item Description" box. They are grabbing random text from my listings, often "terms of sale" type info and putting it in the item description so it makes no sense and/or is not pertinent to the item for sale in and of itself. And each listing has a different text grab. If they insist on this new summary page, then let the seller have a way to control the content of the summarized "item description" box. This also causes a serious problem with item representation ... resulting in SNAD cases if buyer does not read full description and the content as it pertains to the item. ... 3. buyers don't want to click a link or open a new page. simply put -not buyer-friendly.
...and yes, I know it is showing up for some and not others as Ebay has admitted that this is a test on a group of Ebay users... and it MIGHT be "fixed" by clearing cookies or history... but please understand, it is still out there and many buyers are not seeing your item descriptions, even if you "fix" how it displays on YOUR computer...

Afghanistan is a prohibited country and they could suspend you for something they did.

On August 6th, I was looking through sellers who have music LP's for sale. Both of these had the Full item description button. On either left or bottom of short description/pictures. 1st time as a BUYER I saw it! When I pushed button, a longer description appeared on another page. The 2nd seller had same button. You can't miss it (long and oval shaped) Looks like a push button, not like the shape of a real button. Another page appeared but it was blllannkkk. As far as I know there is no "opt-out" button.
I don't know how it appears when sellers deal with it.
However, it's a curse to buyers as well....
Keep complaining to community if it is detrimental to your profit and loss. etc., Opting out would only let seller and buyer loose what they want to see to make an informed decision.......

On some listings, now I see a shortened description right under the price, and it's a part of the description in the listing.

I see them on some other sellers listings - I usually don't look at my own except to check them when they go live.
I have a hunch it's those who set up the description tags for the mobile shoppers. One group is from a seller who is a friend of mine - I'll have to ask him if he changed his to be 'mobile friendly' and how(and why, based on what we sell).
