Looks like there are consequences if we don't supply inaccurate or irrelevant item specifics.
"As previously announced, we’ll be requiring you to complete certain item specifics starting September 9th. After this date, you won’t be able to publish new, relisted or revised listings without the required item specifics."
Make me wonder, if I am paying to use the site why do I have to pay with my time to help maintain it? If these item specifics are so important why didn't eBay do their due diligence and hire people qualified to set them up? It should not be my job to correct all of eBay's blunders on their site.

I got that because I was logged in under my other seller account. My problem with this is, they sent me this and these are items I sold months ago. I don't sell this sort of thing or have any items in these catergories.

I have seen and viewed some of these so called ITEM SPECIFICS that I "MUST ADD" to be able to complete and sell an item of mine in some of these categories. And I can say that I believe this set up will be a complete failure on who ever gave the go ahead to include some of these.
One example is I currently have a old 1946 Military aircraft radio box signaling switch for sale of which I have one left out of 15 that I have already sold. The NEW ITEM SPECIFICS are "REQUIRING" me to add information that is virtually impossible to enter because this item is so old and does not pertain to the listing. I tried to add as much new REQUIRED info as possible but some just did not apply and when I went to submit my listing was rejected! So it looks like some collectors of vintage items will not be able to purchase these things as the sight will not allow them without ITEM SPECIFICS that DO NOT APPLY!
I will not waste my time with these listings anymore and just pull them off the site and sell them on another one.

I click on the message directly from my account, I can't really be logged in as someone else.

Ebay is requiring us to list item specifics on all listings now! My complaint is they need to update the catalogs so that we can find those item specifics and have that information readily available. My specific problem is with UPC codes. These can be nearly impossible to find when your selling items that are years old! If I do a search for an item in eBay's catalog most times I get nothing. My specialty is classic video games and when I'm creating a listing and do a catalog search I usually get no hits for that specific game and end up starting the listing from scratch. Sometimes I get lucky and find it in the catalog, other times I can look at another sellers listing and find what I need, but most time there is nothing!
Bottom Line...
If eBay wants us to use Item Specifics, then they need to provide us with those detail and not make us use a service that we'll have to pay for later!

Blunders??? Well possibly.
Seems if you don't update they will cancel existing: or not let you list until corrected
A tool they posted.

Where do you find out if item specifics are needed? I don't see anything on the active listings page for that.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

I keep getting the message form ebay and get to the past where it says "Top listings with missing item specifics. But its always blank. They keep sending it every few days but still blank. So either I am OK...or the blank screen is an error. I tried to call ebay but it said the number isnt available right now. Anyone else have this problem?

Easiest way I know of is in your "Manage active listings page"
https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active
Under "Customize table" check the "Item Specifics" box.
It will show up in a column like this:

General reply to some of the other comments
I will never trust a tool supplied by eBay that puts info in my listings. The only way I would trust said tool is if eBay back up any problems caused by that tool 100% no questions asked.
eBay lack of foresight to consider vintage items or items the IS don't support proves to me eBay is furthering their goal to get rid of small sellers and people selling used items. Changes like this only stand to weaken what little is left of eBay's market share in the eCommerce world IMO.
More an more people are noticing the downfall of eBay. Make me wonder if articles like https://www.engadget.com/ebay-turns-25-130021766.html are accurate assessments of the site.

I don't have item specifics 🤔
Probably a glitch of some sort, I'll look at it again later if I remember to lol

Bad site design at its finest. You have to click on the "caret" ^ to expand the menu.

I wonder if it is because I have over 100 items missing stuff.

Another method Ebay is using to get ride of the used and old merchandise sellers.
Contrary to what Ebay has said, everything points to if it is not new, you may not be able to sell it here.
More long time sellers will go elsewhere soon.
