Auctions Not showing up not even in my Shop

Thanks to a customer I have discovered my auctions are not visible from abroad (I still have to check in the UK - where I am). The items not only do not show up with the exact titles but they are not just there. I've chatted and called with eBay representatives but with no luck.

They just do not know what is going on. Of course if the auctions are not shown they will be a failure.

How many auctions do you see, and from where? (they should be 20 right now)

Please help!

I found three.  One has a bid, so others have seen it too.  Your store listings only show three.  Maybe you mistakenly listed the other 17 under buy it now.

No. If you were from the UK (or browse ebay.co.uk I guess) you would see 20 of them. If you are abroad you cannot see them not even from inside the shop!

Those other 17 probably not showing 'worldwide shipping', or show 'excluded' areas?

@silverissimo, I see 20 auctions and 263 total listings in your store on eBay UK, and 3 (the same 3) on eBay USA, eBay France, and eBay Canada. There are 404, 219 and 309 total listings on each of those websites.

It's never a good idea to start auction listings for less than the minimum you are willing to accept for the item. It may seem like a good strategy to get interest, but buyers prefer fixed price listings these days, and you shouldn't rely on getting bidding wars that raise the price significantly.

Some of your listings were posted on eBay USA in US$, and they will have more visibility to people who are searching on eBay USA. Most buyers prefer to buy things from their own country if they can. On eBay France, they give more visibility to listings in the French, and the same for eBay websites in other languages.

In 98% of similar cases posted here, there is a simple explanation for what is going on and it usually involves a misunderstanding about what the searcher is doing or about how search works.

But in order to diagnose the issue correctly, the people on this board need to know:

- an item number that is a problem

- where the item was listed (ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.com.au, etc.)

- where the searcher is registered (ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.com.au, etc.)

- where the searcher is searching (ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.com.au, etc.)

- the searcher's "item location" setting when searching (i.e. default, worldwide, US only, etc.)

But the auctions do not appear not even if you go in my store from ebay websites outside UK. Also, last week I've listed 20 auctions and 14 were showing up, this week 3.....

Ok, for the sake of being precise, this is the ID number of one of the listings that DO NOT appear (at least in eBay FR, ebay IT, and ebay FR)

293732153675

Compared to the ID number of one that DOES appear

293732118211

2) Items are all listed to ebay.co.uk

3) we are registered in the UK

4) I have searched in eBay FR (because I am in France right now) but I know people have the same problem in Italy and US (customers informed me)

5) Item Location depends on the user settings but the same customer that see only 3 items today was showing up 14 auctions last week (always out of 20, but a different set of 20)

eBay has no idea, been chatting with and calling with them for hours.

Thanks for helping!

@silverissimo, when I search for your listings on eBay USA www.ebay.com, the price is shown in italics if it was listed in a foreign currency on a different eBay website. If the price is not shown in italics, then it was listed on eBay USA in US$.

See this screenshot of your listings in that search. The ones in italics, highlighted in yellow were listed on eBay UK in £. The other two, not in italics, were listed on eBay USA in US$. The first two items are identical items, with different item #s.

The first one with price in italics, was listed on eBay UK and is priced in GBP £:

The second one with price not in italics, was listed in US$ on eBay USA:

There's no filter for which website or currency the listings are in, but I noticed that you have 219 listings with free shipping to the USA, and it looks like most or all of them are in US$ on eBay USA:

eBay always gives greater visibility to items that are listed on the website where they are being searched, in the local currency for that website.

You also have some items that were listed in €, on a website in the European Union (not the UK).

image.png

I am not sure which website that was, possibly eBay Ireland because your items show up very well on searches there, including all of your auctions:

So you do have items listed on multiple eBay websites, and the listing-website and currency will affect the visibility of your items on other websites, especially if the other website uses a different language than the one you listed on.

At this point, your situation is to complicated to try to figure it out based on the information I can glean by searching, but you are not giving correct information to all of the questions that have been asked. You said that all your items were listed on eBay UK, but they were actually listed on at least 3 different websites because there are 3 different currencies.

Hi, thanks for your extensive reply. The issue is actually only for the auctions. The auctions do not show up in US FR, DE and IT, but you are telling me that they do in Ireland, which is in a way good news.

This issue is only about the auctions.

Thank you

I am in the USA and searching eBay.com.

When I search for 293732153675 by putting the item number into a URL, I find it just fine. The title is Vintage Solid Silver Italian Made Sailing Ship Miniature Hallmarked Figurine

https://www.ebay.com/itm/293732153675

When I search for the entire title Vintage Solid Silver Italian Made Sailing Ship Miniature Hallmarked Figurine, I find two of your other listings with exactly the same title:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/293669129479

https://www.ebay.com/itm/293669394867

Since all three of your listings are essentially the same item, I wonder if you are running into eBay's Duplicate Listing Policy:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/duplicate-listings-policy?id=4255

"Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including for example: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account."

@luckythewinner, the first listing you linked to, with the item # provided by @silverissimo, is an auction listing on eBay UK in £. The other two are fixed price listings for the very similar items, but one is in € on eBay Ireland I think, the other is in £ on eBay UK, and I also found another in US$ on eBay USA, so they are on different eBay websites.

The duplicate listing policy distinguishes between auction-format and fixed-price listings, and does not allow duplicates of fixed-price listings unless they are on different eBay websites, with some caveats about their visibility on those websites. Duplicate auction-format listings are allowed, subject to some rules about their visibility.

So all of those listings are allowed, under the policy, but the caveats and rules may explain why some of these listings are not visible on some eBay websites.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/duplicate-listings-policy?id=4255

I'm going to do some quick searches on some of the other auction-format listings, and will post back with the results shortly.

Auctions Not showing up not even in my Shop

I did a search for other listings similar to the silver boat that was given as an example. I searched on eBay Ireland because it seems to give the most visibility to the OP's listings, and more of them can be found on this website than any other I have tried.

For the boat, which was one of the auctions that does not show up on most eBay websites, I found a lot of listings that could be considered duplicates. They are listed on at least three websites, in €, £ and US$.  eBay Ireland does have the same policy prohibiting duplicate listings, but maybe the caveats and rules on how the duplicates' visibility will be affected are different on eBay Ireland?

image.png

One of the listings which does show up on all websites was for a water well. The OP only has one listing like this with no apparent duplicates.

image.png

The other 2 auctions listings that do show up on other eBay websites did have a lot of duplicates though.

One was a silver mandolin, and I found a total of 13 listings in 3 currencies for mandolins. Four of these had identical pictures including the auction and 3 fixed price in in €, £ and US$.

https://www.ebay.ie/sch/m.html?_ssn=silverissimo&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=mandolin&LH_PrefLoc=2&_sop=...

The other was a silver tandem bicycle, and I found a total of 14 listings, of which more than half included identical pictures. These included the auction and fixed price listings in in €, £ and US$ including many in € with titles in various languages including English, French, Italian and German I think. Those were probably on different websites across Europe.

https://www.ebay.ie/sch/m.html?_odkw=mandolin&LH_PrefLoc=2&_sop=10&_ssn=silverissimo&_osacat=0&_from...

I think that this is the explanation:

Duplicate listings are allowed, with some restrictions, but they are subject to visibility restrictions. Basically, eBay only allows one of the duplicate listings to be visible at a time. The policy is not clear how this is handled if the duplicates include both auction and fixed-price listings at the same time. They might be considered separately, but that isn't specified so possibly auctions and fixed-price are grouped together and only one of them will be visible at a time.

This may be interpreted differently on different websites, but it appears as though some of the auctions are not getting visibility because they have duplicates and apparently one of the other duplicate listings was chosen (at random?) to be displayed instead.
