New York Times article about The sad tale of a guy who just wanted to make a buck...............
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/14/technology/coronavirus-purell-wipes-amazon-sellers.html
Is it any wonder the stores were sold out and old folks (such as myself) couldn't purchase any???

Yep, and the most disgusting part about it is the fact this guy knew his actions put others lives on the line. Some humans are truly evil. Even in the article, the guy tries to act like he's the victim and he did nothing wrong. I'm glad he lost all his money, and I honestly hope Amazon gives him the boot for good.

It's bad enough to buy them up locally and leave none for others in need. But to drive 1300 miles with the intent of cleaning out the shelves of every possible store is truly obscene!
If ebay hadn't banned the selling of them here due to price gouging, the executive order regarding such during this crisis would have. It's 'business plans' like these losers had that forced ebay to ban the sale of them before the National emergency declaration.
Maybe they should have put their time and money into a business plan that doesn't rely on a pandemic and world wide crisis to make some $. But of course that would be too difficult for selfish losers.

Who cares that people really need that stuff?
At least he wasn't able to price gouge on ebay!
We're all happy about that! 😃

LOL
When this emergency is over he can start recouping his losses by selling them on ebay...
at market price...
one at a time, order after order, day after day...
for the next 15 years.

States should make it illegal to buy excessive amounts of anything during states of emergency, and stores should be held accountable if they allow excessive amounts to be purchased. It's not difficult to distinguish between the person buying for personal use, and the one buying for profit.

I read the article too, but I don't see where he got what he deserved?
If I read it right, he's already made thousands upon thousands of dollars of profit already, even factoring in his initial investement to buy them all.
Right?

I will take 1000 bottles at $1/bottle and send a freighter to get it.
Maybe you can't sell it here, but I know where to sell it.

I have never once used hand sanitizer in my life. I work retail and use public transportation exclusively because I do not own a car, yet I have only had one cold in the past eight years. I simply use PROPER hand-washing procedures and make it a point to avoid touching my face.
Doctors are explicitly saying that proper hand-washing is actually MORE effective at combating the virus than hand sanitizer is. You don't need hand sanitizer at all, you just need to make sure you wash your hands properly. Apparently this is extremely difficult for a lot of people to grasp.

Agree. I also do not buy or use hand sanitizer, unless I am in a situation where no running water is available.
Those recommendations don't even include soap. Running your hands under running water for 20 seconds is sufficient.

If you're anywhere near Central PA,will give you some home-made sanitizer for free. It came out quite well&am passing it around (good kharma). Plus I guess I lucked out in my rural area, no Uhauls drove thru&cleaned out all the "mom&pop" stores...yet. Keep forgetting to ask the Amish when out&about what they do/use,they might have better home-remedies for such.🕊️
