"Ebay doesn't permit selling used underwear" - but I'm NOT listing used underwear!

I am trying to list some gently-worn Smart Wool women's socks, but when I press the "list it" key, I get a message (banner) from Ebay telling me, "Ebay doesn't permit selling used underwear, in addition ..." Why is this happening? I've listed a similar thing before with no issues. How to get around this?

Thanks! I just read that policy. Who knew? I actually sold some pre-worn Smart Wool socks a while ago, with no issue. Is this a new policy?

That I don't know - unfortunately, we seldom get notifications of policy changes. The underwear issue has always been a little fraught, though.

While you could get around it, I don't  suggest you do as you can be banned from selling for life.  Socks are included in that ban too.   There is quite a market for smelly socks and eBay does not want to be a part of it.

Donate them! Personally, I would never wear used socks whether gently worn or not.

When you rent a tuxedo or suit from Men's Wearhouse or similar, they include new socks, and you don't have to return them.

I don't understand selling used socks, either, but the question was whether the OP could list or not. I'm not sure thrifts even take them in donations, though. I wear all mine out so who knows.

Simply gross. Feet can have Athletes Feet and that 'bacteria' can be passed along. If a person cannot afford 'new' socks; they probably don't even care if they even HAVE socks.

Not quite - I've been poor enough in my lifetime that even old socks were better than no socks, but it's not something that can be peddled here to the general public, and I can understand thrifts not taking them.

so true, especially if the socks were barely used and clearly washed. After all, we buy and sell used shoes on Ebay, right?
