I have been gradually buying less and less on eBay over the past year or so. The new extra step of clicking "description" so that the page can be covered with stupid sponsored and similar ads where the description used to be is the last straw. I won't buy anything else on eBay again. Yes, I sell here, but at this point, I don't care if anyone buys from me or not. Frankly, I hope enough other people are as fed up with the ads and extra steps to see a listing that nobody buys from me. Nothing is ever going to change for the better here until the morons at the top fail, hopefully sooner rather than later.

best match........never use anything else (unless checking on something from the board)
and I've been seeing it for some time..........at least a year .........commented to Better half about it.
I just checked another one out of curiosity .......... see if you come up with 2 that are both sponsored/and not.......

Lemax Village Square Gazebo
@dhbookds thanks for that info! Unfortunately I'm unable to replicate it testing in several browsers - not seeing any duplicates in Best Match sort.

Interesting....... even when i click on the link you posted above- i get 11 results and none are duplicated and none of them were even promoted listings. Just goes to show you some of the issues with ebay search- its too reliant on individual cookies and tries to tailor the results to the user's computer. It too challenging for ebays tech and algorithms. And that is not how ebay's customer base searches anyway- more people use ebay for unique one of a kind and vintage items so their search history is totally not indicative of their next search. This results in bad search results.

@dhbookds wrote:@valueaddedresource Hmmmmmm...........I use firefox....... duplicates are $17.99 & $39.
@dhbookds - like @siamjane8 , using that link brings up 11 results for me and none of them are duplicates.
However, if I switch to Price: Lowest First sort (or any others except Best Match) I immediately see the $17.99 and $39 listings you are talking about being shown as both sponsored and organic.
Not doubting you at all - it must just be another one of those "magical" eBay mysteries.

I saw the new setup on my desktop yesterday. I like it.
Defaults to Item Specifics and the Description is right there to click on. I do not see this as any type of inconvenience.
Everything is at the top. Best setup for listings so far.

I think eBay only cares about whether any change they make generates more money for eBay.
We can guess about whether that is happening based on our own little sliver of experience, but we do not have the tools to see what is happening across the entire eBay site.

@valueaddedresource my face is red.........that link is to "newly listed"........don't know how I got into it....will do some more checking in a while........tied up right now.........

lol.......apologies to both of you about the "best match" statement. I'm now totally confused about what is happening...... The Lemax search was definitely thru newly listed. The N Rockwell....I'm not so sure, but I can't reproduce that picture with any of the sorts now. I can see the item sponsored in some of the other sorts, but not all, and none are showing both.
