i have been seeing more and more people listing items as being in the united states when the item is in china and is being drop shipped or even worse being shipped by another carrier and put into the postal system.
for example i ordered an item recently and the shipping partner is ding dong.
ding dong is a chinese name suggesting it is coming from china possibly a reshipper/redirector/forwarder similar to the plan C system to get mifepristone to those where it is illegal to purchase from or the ebay international in wisconsin.
i think ding dong imports the item from china on the slow boat and then re packs it and ships it to the buyer.
the whole idea why to filter by location to the united states is to avoid items coming from china.
those who dont want to risk eviction due to violating the rules of rental or hoa maybe should consider re thinking if ebay selling is worth it or getting a house of their own not bound by any hoa rules or has an hoa that is friendly to excessive junk as long as there is a path.
or if ebay could add a filter to exclude items that are drop shipped or plan C style shipped

I kinda agree...we have to put a country next to our ID "member since"....and yet the shipping is from another country. So if my member ID is Canada but I am shipping from USA where do I pay taxes and such?

You pay personal income tax in the country where you have permanent resident status. Also for some countries your country of citizenship regardless if you are a resident or not.

I have noticed the same recently. If I search for cheapest, I get hits for U.S. seller on the first page which is not normal, but when I click on the seller profile, they are located in China.
There was an article recently about a lady here in the U.S. receiving large amounts of packages from that on-line distribution business that she never ordered. There was suspicion that the China seller(s) who want to clear out their products from that business located here in the U.S., will ship to a location in the U.S. and take a loss rather than have the items shipped back to China.
Just search something like: woman receives a****n packages that she did not order.
Supposedly that distribution business is looking into it, but I doubt. I have heard of these stories for that 3 years easy and they are still happening.
I know there are other scenarios / theories, but I will let others add to the post.

Most of the new items probably do come from China. A seller in China who has stuff in and/or ships from a warehouse in the US......will be considered as a US location........as I understand it.....

I can say this: If a listing features an American flag, and phrases like "U.S.seller" and "U.S. shipping," and so on, I figure it's probably a drop-shipper from China. In other words, the more the listing tries to make me think it's a U.S.-based seller, the less I believe that it is.

Hey! Some of my listings boast "US Seller" because I want potential customers to know it's NOT coming from overseas.

i select united states because i want to be sure i will get the item within a couple days not months.
i think sellers should be forced to make the very tough decision "do i risk losing customers as they will go elsewhere because i am drop shipping or involving a 3rd party shipping partner or do i order the stuff and have boxes of products in my living room, basement and attic and risk losing my place due to being evicted due to violation of the anti hoarding rules of the rental and home owners association"

What do you mean, you're not overseas? There's 2500 miles of ocean between you and the Mainland! 😄

Some drop shippers integrate right into a seller's account.
The eBay seller is located in the US, and listed items are shipped from China. It's an authorized drop shipping method because a seller has an agreement with the wholesaler.
