out of stock items

I have been barred from listing items because I had too many out of stocks. Can anyone suggest a way to avoid this problem?

How can you be out of stock on the type of items you are selling? The only way I could see this happening is if you are using the out of stock to cancel a few orders, or sold items are getting relisted by eBay. 

There must be more to this then we are privy too.

Re-inventory all your items and make sure each listing has a SKU within the listing that points exactly where the item is stored.

Inventory management.   Don't sell what you don't have.  Watch out for ebay relisting sold items.

Dropshipping?  When a dropshipper's supplier is out of stock the reseller is often not advised.

Another reason why dropshipping is a mug's game.

But stamps?

The Scott catalogue provides an easy way to organize.

The only thing I can think of leading to this situation is listing the same items on multiple sites without strong inventory control.

Been there. Done that.

We instituted  a policy that BEFORE SHIPPING stamps had to be taken down from all the sites we had them listed, our website, the shop books, HIP, ZoS, DelCampe.  It worked most of the time because the staff was very consiencious.

Only list items you have checked first to see you have on hand.  With high volume sellers that can be hard to do. However, eBay gets  very unhappy with sellers that don't ship after a buyer pays.

More information is needed in order for any of us to accurately help you.  

How many cancellations have you done using out of stock as the reason?

Why did you choose that reason?

Ebay really doesn't like sellers having out of stock items.  It can be a killer for a seller.  To continue doing this will eventually get your account permanently shut down.

Go to your seller Dashboard and see what your numbers say.  This is a very important screen that should be reviewed by all active sellers every few days.  Seller Dashboard | eBay

If you are really selling things that are out of stock.  Then put your store on Time Away so you can take a FULL inventory of what you have and update your account.  This is EXTREMELY important.  Your inventory MUST be accurate.  You can NOT afford any more Cancellations due to out of stock items.  So best to take a few days off and get things under control.
