Ah yes, that link i originally thought would lead me to customer service where i could point out the ridiculous amounts of bureaucracy it will cause sellers , but no , its 'like it or lump it'

I'm just tagging on the end here ...
As berserker said, the requirement has changed that tracking must be uploaded before delivery.
The point seems to be that buyers want to be able to track their items (*gasp*) from beginning to end ... instead of having to guess when a package might arrive ... And being able to see if there is a carrier-related delay.
I know that, as a buyer, I try to know when something is out for delivery so that I can keep an eye out and not have something sitting on the porch for too long (for example)
Other reasons are to catch a misdelivery before too much time has passed (Being able to ask the carrier the same day or next about a non-delivered "delivery" scan) ... or being available to sign for a package.
There are/were sellers that famously would not upload tracking unless the buyer filed an INR ... so that they could "catch" supposed scammers.
I think the new requirements are to combat some of the frustration that buyers have when a seller doesn't upload tracking in a timely manner ... And to streamline the Seller Performance ratings for "tracking uploaded and validated" vs "Delivered on time".

This was discussed(and cussed) for quite some time here on USA boards.
Partial consensus was that it was very well probably done because eBay feels that it would cut down on the # of INR cases that the "bots"(and sometimes human eyes) would have to deal with, thinking that if the tracking # was already there, buyers would not be opening the INR's
May, or may not help. My recent INR item had been sitting at the buyers PO for 16 days. I ship 100% with tracking uploaded.

No, the OP should have disclosed that they are in the UK, and provided some semblance of context and WTH they were ranting about.OP probably didn't know they were on the .com boards. Somewhere in the .co.uk help pages there is a link to the .com boards and it keeps sending posters here in error.
It does send UK posters here in error. The link brought me here in error years ago, and I've been posting on these boards ever since, and I'm quite sure everyone is delighted.

Doesn't anyone look around before posting? Scan the topics, see the language/phrasing used, read a few of the threads, and maybe get the feeling that "we're not in Kansas anymore" before posting?
If I'm on a website and searching through their "Help" menu ... And they give me an option to "ask the community" ... I'm going to assume that the place I land will be that website's community.
co.uk and .com are both international communities with buyers and sellers from lots of places, so phrasing might not be a dead giveaway as, say, the language on the .hk site might be 🙂 ... especially if one does not know that each site has its own community.
Only on eBay is the "landing place" in question LOL

You get a discount when you buy postage through EBay, and the tracking is automatically uploaded/connected. My labels print immediately, not sure why you’re having troubles.
If you just like going to the post office in person, download the EBay phone app. Then you just scan each bar code - it’s instant.

Buyers have always been able to claim INR if there’s no proof of delivery.

When the link brought me here, I knew almost straight away I was on the US site because I saw the name Answer Center, and not Answer Centre.
However, I thought I'd stick around for a few years and make everyone happy.

no, i am talking "signed for" (which used to be "recorded delivery" - this does not show up in tracking until its actually been delivered" . Fair point regarding couriers , but with signed for its a complete waste of time for the seller to put those big long numbers in

just print your labels on ebay.
Then you don't type anything.

then you have to waste ink and paper and cut them out and ebays system is so archaic you can't fit 4 labels on a A4 sheet . Its also the principle of ebay helping fraudsters by leaving sellers open to claims if they forget to upload tracking

Of course you can fit 4 labels on a sheet of paper, don't you know how to resize or flip paper over?
Work smarter not harder.
Ink is never going to be more expensive than the time spent doing data input.
